The main work of ecclēsia is to build up the body of Christ by the consistent teaching of the Bible, book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse. The worship is simple, focusing on exalting the Lord.

As we continue in our "Grow Up" series through 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul instructs the church in Corinth to be mature in its thinking. We learn about how the church should behave concerning the gifts of speaking in tongues and prophecy.

In this section we learn from Paul to pursue love and use the gift of speaking a tongue appropriately. We all need to know and cooperate with the Spirit of God as He works His gifts in and through each of us to benefit all and Christ's work on earth.

Paul challenges the Corinthians’ presumed spirituality and behaviour, calling them to a greater way, the way of love.

The Church is the body of Christ which is a unity in diversity. United together by the Spirit, yet diverse in gifts and roles.

Who has the spiritual gifts and why? The Holy Spirit gives diverse gifts to all believers, for the common good.

What are you bringing to the table? The Lord's supper is a place where we commune with our Saviour. It's a call to love Christ and to love His Church and about checking our hearts before we come to the Lord's table, just as Paul instructed the believers in Corinth.

Is there place for male and female to vocally worship God in the same gathering? While different and equally made in God's image each must worship in a manner that glorifies God and honours His order in the church.

How do we live God glorifying lives in a society that is so steeped in idolatry? Paul reminds us that we are to flee idolatry, and follow Christ in seeking the good of our neighbour over our own freedom.

Can a person be strong and yet weak at the same time? Old Testament history teaches us that an arrogant stance can quickly turn into an embarrassing fall, but God.

Will God reward those who fulfil His work on earth? if you receive God's Word with the right heart; the right focus will enable you to serve faithfully and accumulate God's eternal rewards.

Is it always right to exercise your rights? 
Like the Corinthians we live in a very individualistic society with the common tendency to put self first, is this always Christ honouring?

How do you best preserve the unity of the gospel community? You might be forgiven if you believe that just telling fellow believers the truth is enough. Paul remind us that we need love as well as truth.

Should you get married, and if so, to who? The massive decision to tie the knot will either be influenced by the surrounding culture or scripture.

How does being born again affect our, where we find ourselves in life? Drastic dissociation and social change or confident trust of God’s sovereignty in our life and relationships?

Paul was aware of the problem of divorce within the Corinthian church. It was the notion that one could divorce their spouse for any reason. This practice had crept in from the culture around them. What are the uncommon implications of sex? Some think sex connects two people like Blue Tac, others say Velcro which both have degrees of temporary stickiness, but the inventor of sex says it's more like epoxy-permanent.

Is there any chance we’ll enter the kingdom of God? What does it take to throw it away, if we lose the way and to even get underway?
