The Levites and priests came to ask John the Baptizer who he was exactly. His reply? Simply, "I am not the Messiah". John knew his position and was fully confident in it. Let's be like John as we learn to decrease ourselves so that He may increase in us!

Maybe, we've been reading this well-known parable wrong. Maybe, Jesus's point was not about being a good neighbour, but about salvation. Many Christians across the world will claim they have the truth, but do not demonstrate this by obeying God's commandments or walking in the same manner as Jesus. Let's do our best to strive for perfection in our love for God!

This particular narrative is only recorded in John's Gospel. Now, while some of the lessons we can learn from this event seem obvious, we all need the reminder that the glory belongs to God. Born blind? Might it be so for God's glory!

Last time we spoke about head coverings, we saw that Paul wanted the women in the Corinthian Church not to look like prostitutes. However, Paul bases this instruction not in an implied custom of the day, but he actually appeals to Creation. Is this then a custom or biblical principle?

Even Jesus's disciples, who had spent so much time with Him, did not grasp the concept of true greatness: servanthood. Let's learn some lessons about humble servanthood in God's Kingdom!

Just because we have a sinful nature doesn't give us the right to sin. But because we have a sinful nature, we do sin! But, there is a solution to this dilemma: Jesus Christ the righteous! Let's learn to live in and by His righteousness

God will forgive us and cleanse us from sin. But, we must recognize that we are indeed in need of forgiveness. If we deny our sinful nature and that we commit sins, how can we live in truth? How can God's Word change us? We must confess!

At the climax of the prologue to John's gospel, we read that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. He has explained, or made known, the Father. We now have a solid understanding of who the Word is before we delve into the narrative part of John's gospel

If God has blessed us with gifts and talents and work to do with our hands, why do we not strive to do our best? Or, we do our best, but we set out to be excellent for man and to please man. We should be excellent for He is excellent and our excellence should be an act of worship to the Author of Excellence!

How can we say we live in the Light if we walk in the darkness? Walk in the Light, build your life upon His foundation, and enjoy fellowship with God!

John continues his discussion about the Light. The Word was the Light and in Him was life. Now, this Light appeared in the darkness: the Creator came into creation. The world did not recognize Him. But to those that did, He gave the legal right to become God's children

A desperate father asks Jesus "if you can". What does Jesus reply? "All things are possible for those who believe!" Let's learn some lessons about faith as we go through this narrative

Echoing the beginning his Gospel book, John states to his readers that Christ is indeed the Word of God, God Himself, who came to earth in bodily form. If we can agree on the person and nature of Jesus Christ, we can enjoy good and pure fellowship, for we fellowship with the Father and with His Son!

In the opening verses of John's Gospel, we see this profound truth about the person and nature of the Word, Jesus Christ. John leaves us no doubt as to the divinity and deity of our Lord. In each of these verses, we are introduced to the Word's eternalness, His role in creation, and His life and light to humanity.

For a brief moment, three of Jesus's disciples witnessed the majesty and glory of God. The voice of God confirms His sonship as well. Let's learn some lessons from this spectacular event!

The original Israelites were the special ones. God revealed Himself to them and gave them the Law to show them what He requires. However, He knew that the Law would not work, so He came down Himself. And now, He has called those who were once not His people: His people. Let's grasp the significance of our being grafted in!

As we end our journey with the ancient nation of Israel, let's look briefly at how Israel and the Church relate. My intention here is not to present a comprehensive view of all the historical and theological positions on this matter, but I do think there are some important elements to discuss!

Paul was stoned and dragged out of the city because the people thought he was dead. Yet, despite being persecuted to the point of death, he got up and went back into the city. In fact, afterwards he went to the cities from where the troublemakers came! Let's not be afraid of the trials and tribulations when we have an appointment to do God's Work!

The exiles return from Babylon and things aren't as great as they were expecting. Let's have a look at three leaders, Zerubbabel, Nehemiah, and Ezra, and see what they were expecting and what actually happened!

In this interesting part of Jesus's walk with His disciples, we see Peter confessing that Jesus is the Son of God - a revelation not from man, but from God. Let's have a look at the implications of this profound truth!

Without sincerity of faith, we can quickly end up arguing with each other over silly matters. Rather, let us aim to please God and be faithful in all respects. If we are sincere in our faith, we can intentional about serving Him properly!

The Israelites (Judah) is now stuck in Babylon in a seemingly unresolvable situation. How can God work through them now? Well, God knew the plans He had for them! Israel needed to adapt, not assimilate. And with God they could have hope, not despair!

After such an amazing experience with the food for the multitudes, the disciples cry out in terror when they see Jesus walking on the water. There are some interesting details in this narrative and some lessons we can learn from them!

As we celebrate Women's Day today, let us remember what God has instructed in His Word! Yes, modern-feminist views of women might be appealing and look empowering, but do they transgress God's standards? In all things, choose God's ways so that His Word will not be slandered!
