EatScripture - Ep 221 - 1 Kings 9:1-23 10.01.2023 33:01
God speaks to Solomon in a very similar vein to their conversation in chapter 3. Solomon's rule takes a subtle turn to being more worldly (Egypt-like) than Godly, but it will take an attentive reader to note the shifts.

EatScripture - Ep 220 - 1 Kings 8:54-66 07.01.2023 32:09
The Temple is complete and the dedication has taken place. All the people join in the great celebration and the "types" of the ultimate sacrifice in Jesus are rampant.

EatScripture - Ep 219 - 1 Kings 8:27-53 03.01.2023 39:02
Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the Temple. Solomon asks God to hear the prayers of the people and forgive. Is this prayer antiquated or does it speak to us today in a real way?

EatScripture - Ep 218 - 1 Kings 8:12-30 13.12.2022 32:21
Solomon begins by blessing the people and then turns toward God as he begins his prayer of dedication. Solomon's use of "the name" seems particularly significant. Both "the name" and "this house" seem to be pointing the reader to a much greater meaning and fulfillment in Jesus.

EatScripture - Ep 217 - 1 Kings 7:40-8:11 10.12.2022 32:39
The completion of Temple furniture, all vessels related to sacrifice, including the movement from outside the Temple where all beautiful bronzework is seen to inside where everywhere is gold and gold overlaid. This is followed by the celebration of all the people, the bringing of the Ark of the Covenant to the Temple and God's "OK" on all the work that has been done in the building of His House.

EatScripture - Ep 215 - 1 Kings 7:1-12 03.12.2022 28:07
Solomon builds his own house and the description of the house is placed in the text in a way that seems to break apart the description of the building of the Temple and it's furnishings. But is this to be taken negatively or positively? Is Solomon working in competition with God or has he built his palace as a reflection of his Father's greatness?

EatScripture - Ep 214 (w/o background music) - 1 Kings 6 29.11.2022 31:50
Solomon builds the house of the Lord (the Temple - His dwelling place). Never intended to be a blueprint for us to use to build an exact replica, chapter 6 is filled with theological and spiritual meaning. It is as much or more about the Church of God which is now His dwellling place as it ever was about a building built three thousand years ago.

EatScripture - Ep 213 - 1 Kings 5 26.11.2022 33:13
King Hiram of Tyre is excited to help in providing timber for the building of God's house BECAUSE of his love for King David. The relationship between Solomon and Hiram is off to an excellent start which speaks typological volumes to the early church about their work alongside Gentiles to build God's greatest house - the Church.

The structure of Solomon's kingdom is seen as a pointer to his wisdom, which is obviously given by God.

EatScripture - Ep 211 - 1 Kings 3:16-4:19 19.11.2022 31:23
Examples of Solomon's wisdom at work are found in 1 Kings 3 and 4. Two prostitutes are fighting over one live infant son. What kind of crazy story is this and how does this show Solomon's wisdom in such a remarkable way?

EatScripture - Ep 209 (w/o background music) - 1 Kings 2:26-46 12.11.2022 32:19
1 Kings 2 continues with more bloodshed, and also with a lot more typology. Along with the spirit of manipulation and power-seeking of Adonijah, now we see a spirit of violent revenge and a spirit of refusal to accept a new kingdom era must also be dealt with in order for Solomon's reign to be firmly established & flourish.
