Jesus does not want His followers comparing themselves with one another to make themselves feel better about not being as sinful as others. Repentance is key in everyone's walk. Luke's parable of the barren fig tree becomes a wonderful illustration of this truth.

Division between people is something that comes with Jesus' ministry. Being able to recognize what God is doing through Jesus is a part of a disciples' calling. Being able to settle disputes among ourselves as God's people is key to living the way we are called to live.
