How serious should we take our word? The more important question is how serious does God take our word. Sean dives into the next piece of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and examines what it means for your "yes" to be yes and your "no" to be no. We look at Scripture and personal stories to compare how this should be understood to how it's often lived out. 

Gird up your what?! What does it look like for you to live in preparation. If there are two things that we can anticipate, it's Jesus' return and the challenges until that happens. Jerell builds out the themes found in Peter's first espitle about hope and persistence in exile. 

Why's everyone so quiet? Jesus certainly did not avoid the difficult topics. While it can be easy to avoid the sins our culture endorses, or are close to home, it's important to see what God's Word has to say about the matter. Sean walks us through another difficult section of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

I need God, I think. Lew discusses the 119th Psalm, examining how Scripture reveals the cry of a heart desperate for God's intervention in their life. In a world full of cheap alternatives, we need to examine if our life's reflect the right dependance on God. 

Did Jesus dump the Old Testament? How should we read and understand the Old Testament? Sean dives into Jesus' words concerning His fulfillment of the Law and Prophets and draws out some principles for us today. 

When is enough, enough? This world has myriad voices that want to speak into our families and our marriages; some are good sound instruction and others are degrading. However, Phares offers us a simpler way: Scripture. She brings four essential verses that marked out her cardinal directions in parenting. 

Hide it under a bushel, no! What does it mean to be the light of the world? Sean talks about community, visibility, and the responsibility Christians have to the world around us. 

So what's the deal with feasts? Sometimes, details in the Bible can feel like strange esoteric artifacts of a bygone era. However, we believe in the usefulness of the whole Bible so there must be something there we can learn. What God created was good.  How are we to understand God's good creation of marriage and the family in light of our fallen state? Phares takes us through her life and examines how God's grace enabled her and Brett to reset trajectories affected by sin and re-orient their family. We all have baggage, we all are affected by sin, but God's grace is sufficient. 

What do we do when we don't see success? Jamie shares her observations through Jeremiah. We look at what it looks like to understand biblical faithfulness and how God expresses it towards us. 

Don't be so salty! Or... do! Jesus uses a lot of illustrates and parabolic language that can sometimes be confusing. However, Sean walks us through this section and helps connect us back to the Old Testament. 

How in the world do you experience joy in the midst of suffering? As Christians, this strange dichotomy is a common theme throughout the New Testament. Jerell continues exploring what it means to do this well, and some ways we get it wrong. 

What do our emotions and prayer have to do with each other? Do we stuff our emotions down, or let them take the wheel in the name of "authenticity"? Lew points us to Jesus' prayer life as we explore how we should approach God in prayer. 

What is fasting? The nature  of fasting makes it sort of an unspoken practice among Christians. We're not really supposed to broadcast our fast to the world. Jamie introduces the discipline and shares an overview of what it is and what it isn't. 

What does it mean to be biblically persecuted? The idea of persecution is a very real experience for many in our world, now and historically. Then there's many who claim persecution, but does it fit the biblical definition? Sean continues in his exposition of Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount to help us understand how God's blessing is tied to persecution. 

We are aliens. Jerell continues his series in 1 Peter. This episode breaks down Peter's introduction and brings us to the topics of identity, unity, and our place as Christians in this world. 

How can you be blessed when you're being persecuted? While the idea of persecution is not foreign in today's day and age, its biblical understanding and implication is often missed entirely. Sean discusses Jesus' words concerning persecution and offers us insight into what they mean and don't mean for us today. 

What do you believe about prayer? Lew opens up the discussion about what prayer is and how we should think about it. We explore some common ideas about prayer that are damaging as well as offer up some simple thoughts to help you understand prayer better. 

Jesus is the light of the world.  This week Jamie muses about the implications of the light that shines on mankind from Isaiah. What does this mean for us and why is this imporant are just a few questions we discuss together. 

What does it mean to be a peacemaker? Sean unpacks another blessing from Jesus to His followers. This time, examining something we can all use a little bit more in our lives. In a world of sides and social media wars, what we need is God's people to walk in peace.
