Happy 5th Sunday, Eastside! We're so glad you've joined us for church this morning! This week we celebrate the fifth Sunday with a focus on worship, baptisms, child dedication, testimony, and fellowship.

"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone." Ephesians 2:19–20 This morning, we continued our current series on Ephesians as Pastor Russ spoke about the importance of Jesus being your Cornerstone.

"For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 This morning, we continued our current series on Ephesians as Pastor Russ spoke about how the church should be like in response to the gospel.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." Ephesians 1:3 This morning Pastor Russ started a new series on the book of Ephesians and how we can be a church like Jesus!

"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:29 CSB This weekend we heard from Pastor Jun Kwak as he spoke on 1 Kings 12:1-15 and listening to God through prayer.

This morning Pastor Russ continued our series on chaos by speaking about the importance of community and meaningful relationships.

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." - John 6:35 We hope you're encouraged by the message. First, we hear testimony on the importance of encountering Jesus and transformative community, followed by Pastor Russ speaking on John 6.

This morning for Palm Sunday, Pastor Russ spoke on remembering that in the midst of difficulty, God is in charge.

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification." - 1 Thessalonians 4:3 This morning Pastor Russ spoke on growth and becoming sanctified or set apart for Jesus.

"Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord." 2 Peter 1:2 This weekend we had a special guest speaker, Tammy Dunahoo who is the Executive Dean at George Fox's Portland Seminary. She spoke out of 2 Peter 1 about learning, knowledge, and wisdom as a follower of Christ.

"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." - Psalm 23:6 This morning Pastor Russ spoke on trusting Jesus, our shepherd who leaves the 99 to pursue us.

"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who guards his master will be honored. As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man." - Proverbs 27: 17-19 This morning Pastor Russ spoke on Proverbs 27 as he shared about the importance of friendship centered on Jesus.

"...and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:5 ESV  This morning Pastor Trey spoke on how we can rejoice in the midst of suffering as followers of Jesus. We have confidence knowing that we have already won, and through God we gain the strength to keep going.

Walk in freedom knowing you are forgiven by God! This morning Pastor Russ spoke on the story of David and Bathsheba out of 2 Samuel 11 and what we can do when we make a mistake (and then make it worse).

"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony..." - Revelation 12:11 This morning Pastor Russ spoke on Revelation 12:1-9, 13-17 and how we can overcome Satan's rage by the blood of the Lamb.

"so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." - Romans 12:5 For the last day of our 21 Days of Prayer + Fasting 2024 we celebrated breaking the fast with worship, water baptisms, praise reports, fellowship, and a potluck after service! Additionally, Pastor Russ shared a short message on belonging. The theme for Day 21 of our 21 Days of Prayer + Fasting 2024...

Happy "4th" Sunday, Eastside! We're so glad you've joined us for church this morning! Normally here at Eastside we set aside 5th Sundays for special service but this time around we moved our last 5th Sunday from December 31 to January 28. This way we could celebrate the end of our 21 Days of Prayer + Fasting with worship, baptisms, fellowship, and a "Break Fast" themed potluck after service.
