[PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 170: Mortal Shell (Part 2) 06.12.2020 5:00
In our second episode on Mortal Shell, we talk about the body of the game. This means all three spokes, their bosses, and the endgame. Where do we come down? This game is super neat, and we really think it's worth your attention. Please comment on this post with your responses for the Mortal Shell appendix episode, preferably by Wednesday, December 9.
Everything to Guppy 586: Cain's Eye 06.12.2020 11:56
Everything To Guppy is a bite-sized, four-times weekly comedy/gaming podcast in which Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.
Days of Future Cast 190: I Think They ARE Vertical? (X-Statix 1) 05.12.2020 22:24
X-Statix 1 Reminder that you can read along with and ahead of the show by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited (we don't get paid for you doing that, so it's not an ad, it's just a cool service). You can also use Comixology, or buy the trades from your local comic book shop (the preferred method, if we're being honest). Be sure to check with your local library to see if they have them there! Watch Out for Fireballs! 298: Dragon Age 2 (Part 1) 03.12.2020 3:10:17
Our love for the outliers in big games series continues with this look at Dragon Age 2. Changing the scope from Dragon Age 1 was a gamble that paid off, among some others that did not. Kole and Gary discuss generalities and Act 1 of this underrated game. Thanks to Mitch! Support Watch Out for Fireballs!

ORB 6: Eeney, Meeney, Miney... Magic! 01.12.2020 1:10:32
This week we're joined by our first guest, Gwen Static, who composed our theme song! She helps us talk about a very good episode that introduces a very good character: Dr. Byron Orpheus, a tenant who is renting space at the Venture compound to help defray some costs. Orpheus catches wind of some dark science Rusty is cooking up, while his daughter Triana catches the eye of a clueless Dean. Special...

Abject Suffering 378: Crystalis 30.11.2020 35:58
Crystalis is, first and foremost, a pretty good game. There are fun details about its story, and why they still honor the American dollar, but mostly it serves as a good launching point for talking about the absurdities of NextDoor.

[PREVIEW] Unfilmable 21: Bedtime Stories (Part 1) 26.11.2020 5:00
Welcome to the new Unfilmable! In our pivot to talking about horror media more broadly, we've decided to talk about the excellent horror anthology series "Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories". We know Tim and Eric aren't for everyone, but we think you should give this series a shot because their approach works really well for telling horror stories. We cover the pilot, "Haunted House", and the first th...
[PREVIEW] Exquisite Suffering 105: Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys 26.11.2020 5:00
It's rare that we find something so strange and awful that we need to share it in its entirety. This strange Snow White "game" is one of those awful things. This is a low effort minigame collection where each game clumsily uses assets from the centerpiece of the product, a seven minute animated retelling of the story of Snow White. Except is bad. Really bad. At a certain point we decide to just do...

ORB 5: The Incredible Mr. Brisby 24.11.2020 42:02
We'll be up front with you: this is not our favorite episode of the Venture Bros. Team Venture heads to Brisbyland at the request of the business magnate Roy Brisby, a stand-in for Walt Disney. Unfortunately, Brisby is a megalomaniac, and the boys get wrapped up in a paramilitary effort to thwart his landgrabbing ways. Special thanks to Joshua Jarett for our cover art, Gwen May for our theme song,...
Everything to Guppy 579: Head Of The Keeper 24.11.2020 13:40

Abject Suffering 377: Baldi's Basics 23.11.2020 48:57
Is there a name for the kind of stealth horror game that's popular with streamers? Things like Hello Neighbor and Bendy and the Ink Machine? Whatever that is, this is one of those, but with a fun, crappy educational vibe. Truth is, this is actually pretty good and fun, so we range far afield on this episode.
[PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 169: Mortal Shell (Part 1) 22.11.2020 5:00
This week, we begin our coverage of Mortal Shell, a 2020 soulslike with some very unique touches. You play as a strange creature who can inhabit certain dead bodies, and these "shells" become your character class as you navigate the dead kingdom of Fallgrim, collecting glands for a large bird. This episode covers the generalities and the tutorial, going over all of the ways this differs from your...

[PREVIEW] Adaptation Decay 44: Dragon's Lair 21.11.2020 5:00
The arcade hit Dragon's Lair was already more cartoon than game, so you'd think it wouldn't be hard to push it all the way to one side and make an animated series out of it. The problem is, you also have to have plots, and dialogue, and all kinds of hard things. This show ended up being one of the more boring things we've covered for Adaptation Decay, and that's saying something.
