Have you ever been invited to "taste-test" a new product? Here the psalmist gladly urges us to taste and experience the goodness of God - a reason to rejoice, testify and find assurance.

Perhaps the most famous sermon ever preached comes early in Matthew's Gospel. But before the Lord Jesus even begins speaking, Matthew draws attention to the importance of the sermon in how he describes Jesus, and who this sermon is for.

We don't often shout for joy - sometimes we feel entirely joyless - but Psalm 33 is packed full of reasons to do just that, all of them reminding us of the great, gracious, loving God we have to worship!

There is no more important question to ask than which side of God's judgment we are on.

There is no greater joy in this life than the joy of sin's guilt lifted off us!

The certainty of God's judgment on his enemies is a comfort for his own people. He calls on his people to celebrate the good news of their freedom from bondage. Similarly, Christians today rejoice in the proclamation of good news for us, that our enemies are conquered by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Having considered what the Cross of Jesus Christ gives us, here we consider the new purpose we ought to have as followers of Jesus. We, too, are to "take up our cross" in service of him

Nahum is a sequel 100 years in the making. One of God's prophets, Nahum speaks concerning Nineveh, the same city that Jonah was sent to a century before him. To a new generation of Assyrians, who had fallen back into paganism and sin, Nahum comes with a stark message of imminent judgment. Nonetheless, his is also a message of comfort for God's people.

Living through uncertain times? Hard times? Good times? Anxious times? Psalm 31 - written by a man who certainly faced his fair share of difficulties - directs our gaze to God no matter what times we may be facing. This psalm was also on the mind of the Lord Jesus Christ, whose last words on the cross are taken from verse 5: 'Into your hands I commit my spirit!'

Proverbs 1-9 closes with another stark contrast between the call of Wisdom and the call of Folly. Each offers a feast, but only one truly provides what we need. Day by day we have a choice to make between the Wisdom of Christ and the Foolishness of sin.
