Paul has described the humility and unity that he wants to see in the Philippian church. He has given them the supreme example of this in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ; now he gives them some examples of believers serving in the church in an exemplary way: Timothy and Epaphroditus.

Paul describes Jesus' humiliation in Philippians 2:5-8 - that is, his coming down from heaven's throne to the shame and agony of the cross. But having finished his work there, Christ was raised back up! He is in the highest and most exalted position: King of kings and Lord of lords! This truth should motivate our worship as well as our witness.

No matter how long we've been following Christ, there are times when we need reassurance and strengthening in faith to keep going. In this passage God comes speaking to Abram in just such a moment.

Christians are those who have already begun resurrection life, spiritually if not physically. As such we are to live lives that witness to the grace, power and salvation of Jesus Christ.

Here we consider Jesus' statement, "I am the resurrection and the life". A statement that challenges our faith, comforts us and brings glory to God.

Here we see that Jesus enters into our greatest sorrow, even death, and yet gives us the promise of life in him.

In the heart of his letter Paul provides us with a deeply challenging and profound statement about the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. This statement about his coming down from heaven to the cross should leave us with no excuse to humbly serve one another, given the extraordinary service of Christ for his people.

Abram finds himself caught up in a regional war, but is victorious with God's help. He then has to choose who to ally himself with - Sodom or Salem. These two ancient kings represent the choice we all have to make between the kingdom of the world and the kingdom of God.

Psalm 133 says that it is a beautiful thing when believers dwell in unity. Paul calls the Philippians to live in joyful unity as they seek to advance the gospel in their city. Here we consider the Power for Christian Unity; the Threat to Christian Unity and the Key to Unity -Humility.

Once saved, a true follower of Jesus Christ can never be lost. Yet our strength of faith - living it out, walking with the Lord, delighting in worship - can strengthen or weaken. Abram and Lot give us a case study of one strong believer and one weak believer. In Abram we see three signs of a stronger faith.

A Christian's primary identity is citizens of the kingdom of heaven. Paul calls on believers to live lives worthy of that citizenship. So, what do kingdom citizens look like? Here we consider that question.

The Bible is a "warts and all" book. It doesn't portray any Christian "heroes" as perfect people - a good thing, since we often falter in our faith. Here we consider an episode in Abram's life when his faith faltered, but his God remained faithful.

Paul had complete contentment and assurance whether he lived or died. Why? Because living meant opportunities to serve Christ, and dying would mean finally getting to be with Christ. Each of us, in whatever circumstances we face, should pray for the same sense of purpose and peace about our lives.
