Drewling Samantics

Turning the Tables     Drew and Sam promised something different for this week’s show and they’ve certainly hit that brief! The shoe is on the other foot, the roles have been reversed, they’ve given it the ol’ switcheroo – however you want to put it, this newest Drewling Samantics episode sees the lads putting themselves in the position usually occupied by their wonderful guests, as it is they who...

Never Work a Day in Your Life     Drew and Sam are back for another week of news and chat, and another brilliant and talented guest!   To start with the boys bring updates up on industry news affecting actors and musicians that they’d previously discussed on Drewling Samantics, and talk about the increasing influence and hard work of the actors’ union Equity, reflecting on the mechanics of the ind...

Stagey-stitious     So after a few weeks of trying Drew and Sam have finally managed it, they’re back together to record an episode in the same room! And what’s more is the chaps are even both on the beers, there really is no holding back – but let’s be honest, when have they ever?! It certainly is a full on show too, with plenty of delicate controversy to discuss as they revisit two old news stor...

Mixing It Up     Season Ten is moving along very nicely, and to add considerable pace to Drew and Sam’s second outing of the year is their first guest of the season. Joining our podcasting pair this week is the brilliant Allan Turner-Ward, a man with so many strings to his bow he’s practically a one-man orchestra!   Allan has travelled the world, from his boyhood home in Bournemouth to America, Eu...

X     It’s here - the hugely anticipated and long awaited (even longer than expected to be fair!) return of Drewling Samantics! Yes Drew, Sam and of course PicNick are back, and just in case the episode title is slightly too cryptic, they are back for Season Ten. Double figures, who would have thunk it?!   There’s a little catching up to do first after a busy Christmas period spent as Santa Claus...

Season Nine – Best of Drew & Sam     Drew and Sam are clearly feeling quite reflective this week, and that’s rather convenient as it’s the final episode of the season, which in turn means it’s one of their most enjoyable tasks, where they look back over all the shows of Season Nine and choose their favourite moments and clips for us to relish!   The past fifteen weeks have certainly been full...

Season Nine – Best of Guests   The Drewling Samantics boys say it every time, because they really mean it every time – they are enormously grateful to the fantastic group of guests that have joined them this season!   Looking back, which is exactly what this special highlights episode is all about, there seems to have been a theme to the guests across Season Nine, in that they are all taking actio...

It’s Good To Talk      Sadly, this week’s episode of Drewling Samantics marks the beginning of the end for another season. But, as the boys remind us, there is still a little more left before we finally say farewell - and of course there’s another season rapidly approaching too. Enough to put a smile on the face of even the grumpiest podcaster!    That said, it isn’t all smiles this week, with the...

Locked and Loaded     Feeling a bit sluggish? Lacking motivation? Need a touch of excitement? Drewling Samantics has just the cure, or rather, just the guest for you. This week the boys welcome Gareth Locke, actor, stunt performer, and absolute bundle of energy! Along with brilliant performances in major movies and independent films, Gareth is working towards perhaps one of the most respected and...

If I Were Not Upon The Stage     The chaps at Drewling Samantics take all subject matter very seriously, always do appropriate research, gather all the facts possible, and bring their thorough findings and views to us listeners and viewers. This week in particular this is rather obvious, as one of the boys has perhaps enjoyed that process a little too much (if that’s such a thing) but interestingl...

You’ll Find Him in the Theatre Section     Drew and Sam started this podcast way back in the dark days of ‘the unwelcome guest’, when lockdown was upon us and performers and associated industries were struggling to survive. For them it was not just a coping mechanism, but a hope that it might go a little way to help creatives turn things around - or at least realise they were not on their own. And...

The One That Got Away     There has been quite a lot going on in the industry recently for Drew and Sam to cast their eyes over and pick apart. In this episode alone they discuss budget cuts, well timed but potentially inappropriate protests, useful and exciting investments, and a very British response to an abnormal occurrence. Quite the collection!   Then, having dealt with the news and other de...

You Must Be Krazy     Guest weeks come round pleasantly quickly at Drewling Samantics, and Drew and Sam have another gem of a visitor this episode. Kevin Aggett, better known as ‘Krazy Kev’, is a childrens’ entertainer, actor, producer, director and more - his list of skills and accomplishments is certainly long and impressive. From an early start as a holiday camp entertainer to branching out and...

Multiple Personalities     A major contributor to the joy of acting for many performers, is the variety in moving from part to part and becoming new characters on the way. Sometimes that diversity and role changing can even happen in the same production - doubling, trebling or more; and it’s fair to say that proving a greater number of characters than cast members available is possibly one of the...

Community Spirit     If the need for theatre and entertainment was ever in doubt, this week’s guest simply blows any of that uncertainty out of the water! Yes today the Drewling Samantics chaps welcome another superb visitor - Simon Floyd; producer, director, performer, and community theatre advocate and champion.   Simon is a theatre maker and in fact is currently working with Drewling Samantics’...

Unforeseen Circumstances     Drew and Sam are back again this week with generous helpings of news, views, gossip and chat. They cast their eyes over the latest industry stories and pay tribute to a lost great of the entertainment world, so you might say that, when it comes to Drewling Samantics at least, it seems everything is as expected.   But in today’s show the boys acknowledge that, particula...

Fighting Fit for Film     As per the famous Guinness slogan: “Good things come to those who wait” (other stouts and mottos are available!) and Drew and Sam have had to wait a while for this week’s guest to be able to find a slot in his incredibly full diary to join them. But safe to say the brilliant Michael Hoad is more than worth the wait.   An internationally successful martial artist and perso...

Anarchy in the Stalls of London     To paraphrase the late, great Tina Turner, Drewling Samantics audiences are simply the best! Drew and Sam readily admit that without their wonderful listeners and viewers there would be no point them getting together every week for a chat - brilliant guests or not! And that extend far beyond this humble little podcast, audiences are vital to the arts in general,...

Continental Chat     It’s time for the first guest of the season and Drew and Sam are delighted to welcome the wonderful Lisa Riesner, who is not just a new guest, but also a new friend to Drewling Samantics. Lisa is both a very talented actress, and a fan of the podcast, which is what prompted her to get in contact with the chaps, and they’re extremely glad she did, as being so interesting and ex...

Back with a Bang     Forget the recent restart of the Premier League, this is the resumption everyone has really been waiting for! Yes Drewling Samantics is back to kick off another season, and the ninth iteration of episodes from our favourite podcasting pair promises to hit the same level of quality content that followers, listeners and viewers have enjoyed over the previous eight seasons.   In...

Season Eight – Best of Drew & Sam     This is it, we have finally reached the end of the season and that means it’s time for Drew and Sam to look back and choose their favourite highlights of the preceding weeks.   This season there has been no lack of subject matter for the chaps to get their heads around and their teeth into. They’ve said many sad goodbyes to eminent professionals regrettabl...

Season Eight – Best of Guests     Drew and Sam are the first to admit that, for them, the hardest part of any season is choosing the best bits - particularly from the episodes featuring the wonderful array of talented guests that have visited Drewling Samantics over the weeks preceding the release of the highlights shows.   Season Eight saw the chaps joined by Reece Kerridge, Tom Levermore, Hannaj...

Strike Out     Sadly, today’s show is part of the rapidly approaching conclusion of Drewling Samantics Season Eight, with just this episode before the chaps plunge into their ever popular “Best of” compilations. But there is definitely nothing mundane about it, as Drew and Sam provide more diverse and stimulating conversations regarding very topical events in the entertainment world.   As is often...

Not Just For Christmas     On several previous occasions the Drewling Samantics have welcomed practitioners from the wonderful world of pantomime, and indeed they are seasoned pantomime performers themselves, so it’s no shock that they are thrilled to be joined by another pantomime fan in the form of this week’s guest Simon Lucas. Simon is the creator and driving force behind the ‘Pantomime Magazi...

Busman’s Holiday     Anyone who regularly tunes in to Drewling Samantics will know that Drew and Sam have few complaints when it comes to their work, but, regardless of the fortunate lack of negativity, it is still important to take time out and relax (if that’s ever possible!)   In this episode our podcasting pair turn the discussion to things that occupy them during their rare moments of down ti...
