Dragon Quest FM

Austin got a Switch 2 for his father's day gift, and he discusses his experience with it in the time since. There have been a few issues with the transfer, and his daughters aren't too happy with how it handles Animal Crossing. But he did get Mario Kart World, so he and Beej talk about the differences in it and MK 8 Deluxe and how one is a better game than the other. But which is it!? http...

Beej was able to get a Switch 2 at launch, and today we're talking about the first week of having it and whether or not it was worth the money. There are also tangents into Dragon Quest 3 performance, how Austin was a professional juggler, and why we're friends. It also ends on a dark note about Mario Kart online, so keep your bingo cards ready.https://bksy.app/profile/dragonquest.fmhttps:...

Austin and Beej are talking about DQ Day and all the announcements that we had! Or the lack thereof, maybe. Note: This was a livestream on YouTube originally (https://youtube.com/@dqfm), and Beej's mic is out. So the audio is fully Austin, but if you want to watch some good miming interaction, be sure to watch the video.

The 39th anniversary of Dragon Quest is coming up, so we have to talk about what the DQ Day dream is going to have in store for us. Some of it is what we really expect to be showcased, while others are dream games that we hope to see. Either now, or next year with the 40th anniversary of our favorite JRPG series. We also have special new Side Quest episodes and RPG content available for paid patro...

With the release of Clair Obscur, the discussion has turned around to turn-based RPGs again. Like, what is one, and can they make money? Beej and Austin talk about how Pokemon is a turn-based RPG and the bestselling franchise ever, as well as what makes a good turn-based game and why people associate it with Final Fantasy over Dragon Quest. Even when Dragon is in a game's title. Sheesh. Find us on...

This week, it's all about the Switch 2 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remaster Or is it a Remake? We talk about that and so much more (as always). Did you get a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-ordered? Beej did! Austin did not. Sad trombone time. Let us know if you had any issues or got one yourself and what you think about the Oblivion Remaster, too.https://bsky.app/profile/dragonquest.fm

This week, it's a Patron Request episode! "If you could make your own DQ game, what would it be? In terms of job system or not and monsters that'd have to be included, but also other systems the series has used before like pep powers, becoming munchie, and stuff like that. would love to hear location and character ideas too" You can get your own at https://patreon.com/dragonquestfm and talk to us...

We discuss what it's like to be in America and waiting on the Switch 2. Is it worth the price? Is it worth the wait? Would we rather have a Steamdeck? Today we're taking a look and talking about some of the really cool stuff in Austin's DQ collection, like his DQ Tact Super Famicom box (you read that right!), as well as other rare things like his Kenshin Dragon Quest plug-and-play set and how it serendipitously made its way from Japan to south Florida without him even being involved. At the request of our lovely patron Jeff the Seamonkey, we're talking about DQ Spin-offs that could actually be a success rather than just niche cult classics. It's a lot of fun to get the ideas flowing, and BJ cannot stop thinking about all the various cozy DQ games that could exist. Oh, and Austin was wrong about Ron Glass. He apologizes. Let us know in the comments or on Bluesky: https:...

Get a 45% discount on the Magic Mind Austin talks about at https://magicmind.com/dragonjan This will probably be our final DQ3 remake episode for a while, at least until BJ finds his Switch and stops being a total goober. The post-game of DQ3 is really cool, though it can get frustrating if you're working on doing it to 100% completion. What have your experiences been with the postgame, and we...
