Abraham was asked of God the seemingly impossible: sacrifice the son whom he loves. Scripture doesn't sugar coat the realities of how difficult of a decision this was, nor how much his faith was tested. And yet, God showed himself faithful and provided a substitute. Often times, the most shocking thing about the scriptures is not the perfection of the major characters, but the imperfections. God reveals himself through unbelievers to those who have faith, and shows himself to be uniquely holy and unquestionably gracious.  Preached by Brian Habig.

Abram had already faltered in his faith. Why would God want to draw near to him? Because that is God's character. God draws near to the faithless because he is loving, kind, and faithful. What do we do with life when the space between what is promised and what seems possible is in conflict? When we think of spiritual warfare, we think there are a few instances in our life when we will need to heroically don armor given to us by God.
