I Corinthians 5: "Purge Out the Old Leaven" 19.11.2025

The Corinthians had a serious case of sexual immorality going on in their local assembly.  Rather than mourning over the sin and disciplining the offender, they were "puffed up." Paul instructs them to hand the man over to Satan for the destruction of his flesh. The end goal, however, is the salvation of the man's spirit. Paul's hope is that this would drive the man to repentance and restoration. ...

I Corinthians 4 "Servants and Stewards of the Mysteries of God" 10.11.2025

Paul is continuing to correct the improper view the Corinthians had of their favorite preachers. He has used the analogy of a farmer and a builder. Now, he will use the illustration of a galley slave oarsman and a household manager. He admonishes them to stop judging and wait until the Day when the Lord will reveal every man's work and motive.  Paul warns that he will come to visit them soon and i...

I Corinthians 3: The Dangers of Carnality 03.11.2025

Despite their inflated evaluation of themselves, Paul calls the Corinthian believers spiritual babies.  Their immaturity was displayed by their behavior. They were puffed up for one preacher over another. Paul reminds them that he and Apollos (and us, by extension) are merely seed-throwers and water boys.  God deserves the glory, for He makes all things grow. This chapter closes by reminding them...

I Corinthians 2 "Wisdom from God" 29.10.2025

In this message, Paul contrasts the wisdom of this age and the rulers of this age with the wisdom from God. God's wisdom is found in a mystery. But this mystery has been revealed to those who have the Holy Spirit.  The "natural man" (the person without the Holy Spirit) cannot understand or grasp the spiritual truths of God's word.  But the believer is capable of understanding and knowing God's wor...

I Cor 1:10-17 "The Danger of Division" 06.10.2025

After Paul's greeting that reminds them of their position in Christ, he begins to deal with some of the problems in the Corinthian church.  First on the list, is the issue of division! Paul urges them on the basis of their familial bonds in Christ to be of the same mind and speech.  Unity does not demand uniformity, but quarrels and factions hinder the cause of Christ.  Paul reminds them that Jesu...

I Cor 1:1-9 "Are You a Saint or an Ain't?" 01.10.2025

In Paul's greeting to the church at Corinth, we learn some valuable theological lessons.  This church is dealing with a myriad of issues. Paul is going to correct and rebuke the sinful behaviors at this church.  But before he does, he takes a moment to remind them of their position and high calling in the Lord Jesus Christ.  By virtue of their faith in Christ, they are no longer what they once wer...

Mark 6:30-44 "Compassion-Driven Ministry" 22.09.2025

After sending the disciples out on a short-term mission trip, they return to share their results.  Jesus has compassion on them and invites them to come apart for a while to replenish and renew their bodies and spirits. Before they reach their destination, a crowd of thousands of people await them.  The apostles are ready to send away the crowds, but Jesus Christ has another solution in mind.  The...

"Fear God, and You Need Not Fear Man" (Luke 12:1-12) 15.09.2025

This has been a tough week for our nation.  As we reflect upon recent tragedies and the anniversary of September 11, 2001, we look to the words of Jesus for instruction. We must beware of hypocrisy.  We must be afraid of no man (yet fear God!).  We must be bold in our confession of faith.  The Holy Spirit stands as the only One between eternal life and death. He must never be blasphemed, and we ha...

Acts 15:36-41 "Separate Ways: When Godly People Disagree" 26.08.2025

Before embarking on a second missionary journey, Paul and Barnabas reach an impasse. They were divided over the issue of who should accompany them.  Barnabas wanted to take his cousin John Mark along.  Paul was opposed to taking John Mark because he had abandoned them on the first missionary journey.  We will take a look at several snapshots of Barnabas (and Paul) in the book of Acts. What lessons...

Acts 15:1-31 The Jerusalem Council- Do Gentiles Have to Keep the Law? 26.08.2025

A group of Pharisees called "Judaizers" boldly declared that Gentile believers must submit to the rite of circumcision and come under the law of Moses. This led to a monumental church council in Jerusalem with the apostles and elders present.  Peter, Paul, Barnabas, and James all weigh in at this important meeting.  Their ruling is that the Gentiles do not have to be circumcised, nor did they need...

Revelation 12 "The True Source of Anti-Semitism" 04.08.2025

Anti-Semitism is the irrational hatred of the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  We have seen it throughout history and even today.  We will look at the true source of hatred against the Jewish people.  Revelation 12 shows us that behind the physical realities are spiritual forces. The devil has a particular hatred for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

Romans 11:25-36 "The Mystery of Israel's Future Restoration" 28.07.2025

Paul explains the mystery of Israel's partial hardening.  A mystery is something not revealed in the Old Testament. Paul explains that this partial hardening is only temporary.  It will be over once the full number of the Gentiles comes into the fold. Once that happens, God's program will once again focus on the nation of Israel.

Why Israel Matters (Part 4)- Romans 11:1-24 21.07.2025

Paul answers two important questions regarding the nation of Israel. Has God cast off His people that He foreknew? Secondly, has the nation fallen out of favor permanently?  Paul's answer to both questions is "God forbid!" The hardening of Israel is only partial.  There has always been a remnant of faithful Jewish believers.  It is the same today. The hardening is only partial, and it isn't perman...

Why Israel Matters (Part 3)- Romans 10 15.07.2025

In our previous message, we looked at Israel's past election.  Today, we look at Israel's present rejection.  What we will learn is that their rejection is based on their refusal to submit to the righteousness of God.  Rather than coming by faith, they sought to approach God by works of the law.  They stumbled over the Chief Corner Stone (Jesus Christ). Divine sovereignty and human responsibility...

"Why Israel Matters" Part II: Romans 9/ Israel's Past Election 07.07.2025

We continue in our series "Why Israel Matters." In light of the fact that most of the nation of Israel has rejected the Gospel, what are we to conclude?  Have God's promises to His covenant people failed?  Can we trust that the promises of Romans 8 will come to fruition?  Paul will argue primarily from the Old Testament, that God has always had a remnant people.  It has never been the entire natio...

"Why Israel Matters" Part One- The Covenants of Promise 30.06.2025

In this first installment of the series "Why Israel Matters", we look at the eight covenants of the Bible.  In particular, we look at the Abrahamic Covenant.  In that covenant, the LORD promised Abraham several things: a great nation (Israel), blessings (material/spiritual), a great name, the obligation to be a blessing, that He would bless those that bless Israel, He would curse those that curse...

Galatians 1:6-10 "A Hill Worth Dying On!" 23.06.2025

In today's message, we look at Paul's very sharp language to the churches in the Galatian region. He has a dire warning for any who would try to alter God's message of salvation.  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is unique in that it is the only "religion" (for lack of a better word) that offers salvation independent of any human effort.  This amazing grace is the unmerited favor of God.  It is dispense...

The Father's Love for His Children (I John 2:28-3:3) 16.06.2025

In this Father's Day message, we take a look at John's amazement at the love of God.  How awesome that we would be called the children of God! He urges us to live a holy life in anticipating the imminent return of the LORD.  The prophetic message of the coming of Christ is a purifying hope.

Romans 8:31-39 "If God Be for Us, Who Can Be Against Us?" 09.06.2025

As Paul closes the 8th chapter of Romans, the text hits a crescendo!  Paul asks a series of questions about persons, places, or things, that might separate us from the love of God.  His conclusion is that he's convinced that nothing in all of Creation can separate the believer from the love of God in Christ Jesus.  The chapter begins with "no condemnation"...and it ends with "no separation."

Romans 8:28-30 "When You Don't Know...Remember What You Do Know" 02.06.2025

We look at one of Paul's great texts to the Christians at Rome.  Our lives are anything but static.  Things are always subject to change.  When we go through difficult seasons of life, we must lean on what we know.  We know that all things work together for good....to those that love God!  We will unpack the Scriptures to see what that looks like.

Special Guest Speaker: Pastor Arnold Jackson 27.05.2025

On this Memorial Day service, we were blessed to hear a message from retired pastor Arnold Jackson.

Acts 9-10 "A Change Only God Can Bring" 27.05.2025

The focus again returns to Peter in Acts.  He has been given the "keys to the Kingdom" and he has one more key to turn.  This will prove to be the most difficult.  God will have to overcome Peter's preconceived ideas to get the Good News to the Gentiles.  But He is more than able! By means of a "double-vision" He works with Cornelius and Peter to bring the message of Jesus Christ to this group!

Mother's Day 2025: Seven Lessons We Can Learn from Mary 13.05.2025

On this Mother's Day service, we look at seven snapshots in time of Mary's life.  We will see how her life's plans are upended in a glorious way.  She will have many twists and turns to process along the way.  Ultimately, she will see her Son die for the sins of the world.  She receives Him as Lord and Savior and continues with the other faithful disciples in the Upper Room.

Acts 9:10-31 "The Hunter Becomes the Hunted" 05.05.2025

Our message begins with Saul, still blind in Damascus.  The Lord appears to a man named Ananias and gives him instructions to pray for Saul.  Understandably anxious, Ananias obeys the Lord and Saul has his sight restored and is baptized.  He immediately begins to preach that Jesus Christ is the Son of God! It's not long before the "persecutor" becomes the "persecuted."  When Saul goes to Jerusalem...

Acts 9:1-9 "Paul Apprehended by Christ" 28.04.2025

In today's episode we look at the marvelous conversion experience of Saul of Tarsus. On his way to persecute the believers in Damascus, Saul encounters the risen Christ.  He is shocked to meet the very One he has been persecuting.  In submission, he asks the Lord what He would have Saul to do.  Temporarily blinded by the encounter, Saul makes his way to Damascus and awaits further instruction.
