In Matthew 16:1-12, Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for seeking a sign to prove who He is. In so doing, He reveals our own hypocrisy when we also refuse to see God at work all around us.

We all have times when it seems that God is rudely saying no to our requests and expectations and at best it seems distant and silent. Today's study of Matthew 15: 21-28 shows us the road map towards deeper faith which we are invited to follow by God's seeming rudeness but actual deep love for us. 

Matthew 15: 21 -28 As we read these verses, we learn about the mother whose love for her very sick daughter motivates her to seek Jesus. Her persistence and faith in Him are rewarded when He cures her daughter.

Matthew 15: 10 -20 “It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles man, but what comes out of his mouth that defiles man.” In these verses, Jesus clarifies the law as we learn it is the words that come from our hearts that are of the utmost importance to Him.

Matthew 15: 1-9 As we read these verses, we learn how we must encounter God with a clean and pure heart.

Matthew 14: 13 – 21 In these verses, we learn how we bring what we have to God. He illumines our hearts as our faith deepens.

Matthew 14: 1-12 In these verses, Herod becomes fearful as he learns more about the teachings of Jesus through John. As a result, John loses his life.

Matthew 11:25 The Will of God is gracious and kind. Jesus gives us rest. HE is our example... we learn from HIM to be humble, lowly in heart (God resides in us). We need to repent and be yoked to HIM for the Love of The Father is through Jesus.

Matthew 11: 20 We have access to power but we need to recognize our unholiness and repent. Power is not the issue but holiness is. Jesus came to bring us to repentance. HE was upset with cities since they did not repent. If we do not have God, we have no power.

Matthew 10: 40 with discussing when we accept a Holy person (prophet) we receive a reward. The reward is Jesus and through HIM we go to God. The reward comes from God…. the reward is God. Our focus must always be Jesus.

This episode focusts in Matthew 10:32. Here is the formula: God’s truth for eternal life is to die to ourselves. A true disciple may need to sacrifice close relationships (family). We have a choice to make: Christ vs someone else. Who will you love more? To be rich and powerful, choose Christ.
