Death by Multimedia
Hi there and thanks for tuning in to this newly rebranded podcast, Death by Multimedia, a title I borrowed from the first ever podcast I did with my eldest daughter Jessica. Seeing as though I have split this podcast into three sections over the years – TV and movies, sports and music, and created two other podcasts to handle the weight of the sports and music side of things, I have decided to give this podcast a bit of a spit and polish and rebrand and republish. So, I hope you’ll stick with me as we explore movies, TV shows, streaming platforms, documentaries and even the odd introspective.

Australia's Test squad for the proposed tour to South Africa has been chosen, and the lack of change or variation in the team raises some questions as to where we may be heading, following a desperate defeat at home to India. Episode 23: 4th Test Review and What Went Wrong 25.01.2021 41:33
India outplayed, outmuscled and outthought the Australian team to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy with a virtual 2nd XI squad and a vatful of belief and talent that has not only pleased the entire cricket world outside of Australia, but left plenty of questions to be asked. Today we wander through a maze of distraught reactions to see if any sense can be made from it, before listing what problem...

Episode 19: Series Review and 3rd Test Preview - Australia vs India 04.01.2021 33:13
We're halfway through the Test series, and at 1-1 you would think it has been pretty even. But even skimming across the surface you can see that that isn't quite the case. Today we'll discuss how the first two Tests have proceeded, before having a look at the possible scenarios ahead for the 3rd Test in Covid riddled Sydney.
Episode 18: Cricketmas Day and A Festivus for the Rest of Us 18.12.2020 32:35
It's that time of the year when Christmas has arrived and celebrations have begun. But not everyone is so engaged. So on this program we have a look at several other ways that people celebrate at this time of year and what those celebrations look like. Some have been around for centuries, others have appeared more recently. Whether you like to indulge in a Festivus, or whether it is Cricketmas Day...
Episode 17: BBL10 Preview... a Week Late... 15.12.2020 37:46
Sometimes you just run out of time and don't get to what you want to before it is too late. But it is never too late for a preview, even if the season has already started. So here is my look at the Big Bash League's Season 10 team lineups, and who might be the one to beat come February.
Episode 16: Australia v India - White Ball Review, Pink Ball Preview 15.12.2020 30:37
We've lived through the ODI and T20 cricket series between Australia and India, and there are a few talking points worth considering, not the least the atrocious over rates and the time games were finishing. We cover a couple of those. Then we look ahead to the start of the Test series with the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide, and consider who might actually take the field.
Episode 15: Yes, "Die Hard" is a Xmas Movie 08.12.2020 38:46
With the festive season almost upon us, it's time to discuss that much argued position, as to whether or not the movie "Die Hard" qualifies as a Christmas movie. Today I'll show you the reasons why there is only one correct answer to that question. Following on from that, I'll give you a list of the Xmas movies that have kept me and my family company over the years, to give you some recommendation...
Episode 13: Sliding Doors and Defining Seasons 25.11.2020 38:15
It's time to vent a little on some recent moments in the world of Australian sport. Whether it is talking about how Mitch Marsh almost replaced Steve Smith when he was concussed and destroyed Australia's cricket story, or Peter V'landys trying to blackmail the NSW Government for money or forcing us to endure watching the Broncos every Friday night, or Collingwood cutting off all of their limbs at...
Episode 12: Fifty Years of The Goodies 25.11.2020 39:30
Can you believe it has been fifty years since The Goodies first aired? I still can't, but it is fact still the same. The trio of Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie, inspired and entertained a generation with their irreverent humour and ability to poke fun at so many facets of life. While I tend to waffle on a bit here, I talk about my favourite memories of the show and how they influe...
Episode 11: Destroying the BBL Spectacle in 3 Easy Steps 18.11.2020 32:04
This week it's back to my favourite subject - cricket! Firstly we have a look at how the TV networks have sought to impose their demands on Cricket Australia to implement changes to the popular Big Bash League in order to get what they want out of their contract, and not what is best for the sport. Then we have a discussion on Australia's Test squad as chosen for the upcoming series against India,...
Episode 10: Footy Frills, Fails and Follies 12.11.2020 31:06
We've made November, and the major footy codes have finally had their season run and won. And as always, there are a few stories that come to the fore during the finals series. As always, I decide to have my say on a few of those moments, and add some thoughts as to where we could go in the future - and as ever that is usually back to the past!
Episode 9: 30 Glorious Years of Gamma Ray 17.09.2020 36:26
This month one of the most underrated but brilliant heavy metal bands of all time, Gamma Ray, celebrated their 30 anniversary, and I have been lucky enough to have been along for the ride for all of that time, and for what had led up to the band's formation. This episode is my tribute to a band that I think has few equals. Here is a remembrance of days past and how music blends in with it so much.
The Lounge Jockeys Episode 1 09.09.2020 37:59
The all new sports talk show, where the greatest sporting minds don't always reside in the greatest sporting bodies. This week sees likely regular panelists John Cincotta and Daniel Reilly talk their way through a likely NRL finals series, the just-completed T20I series between England and Australia, and other sporting tidbits to excite even the most nauseatingly boring sports fan.
Episode 7: Back to the Cricket! 25.08.2020 31:16
Cricket has finally begun to filter back into our field of vision, with the IPL about to start and the Australians touching down in England for some ODI and T20 action. Along the way the mankad has come back into the discussion as well as the bad light law, and even a question of again reshuffling the Australian season ahead. Come and join me for a 30 minute walk through some of the issues that ha...
Episode 6: I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles - EPL and A League March Forward 17.08.2020 34:41
My knowledge of football in general is at a very basic level, despite a joy in watching the game and finding teams worthy of my support. Mixed in with a personal history of my football journey, we also have a quick review of the Premier League season with special guest Josh Peters, and also discuss possible future directions for Australia's A League in the hope to build it to the level it wants to...
Episode 5: Live After Death is not the answer 11.08.2020 32:41
Time to run the gauntlet yet again and bring up the unfortunately touchy subject that few of us can discuss with allowing emotion to overrule the discussion. Also today, we relive the amazing career of Music Producer and Engineer, Martin Birch, who sadly passed away this week. Live After Death indeed...
Episode 4: Where Will Australia's Sport Find a Home 04.08.2020 22:41
With Victoria down for the count, and New South Wales walking a mini tightrope, the fate of the major sports and the location they can be played in is up for discussion. Today we discuss just what kind of options are open, especially for the AFL and cricket, when it comes to their major pay days in the coming months.
Episode 3: Sports Documentaries Save the Sportless World 29.07.2020 23:48
When the world's sports competitions were shut down due to Covid-19 earlier this year, those of us who relied on televised sport found ourselves with a vacuum. Thankfully, sports documentaries came to the fore to save us from our families. In this episode I run through a few of the best examples out there that you should all have a look at.
