Scintillating Heights (Long version demo) disquiet0621 23.11.2023 4:16
I’m taking from the trash bin this complete take on an actual composition that I recorded during last September and decided not to use, and instead make a new, different version. The new , “approved” version, shorter, faster, all acoustic, will be released during the winter, so this one became obsolete and has been lying on the trash for a couple of months now. I took that photo in Tokyo Oct 2019....

Fake Beat Accrual - Disquiet0620 w/Fake Genius 16.11.2023 1:35
Hey, I worked on this track by @fake-genius https://soundcloud.com/fake-genius/disquiet0619-ritm I like it because it’s the sweet blend between demented and easy to follow. I spent the whole day recording my upright bass, bowed, for a different project. I did 16 tracks of a repetitive thing, with rhythmic delays, so I am hot with the bow. Here I did 8 tracks, so 4 stereo pairs (everything double t...
Bad Beat (disquiet0619) 10.11.2023 2:13
I seldom work like this: creating a charged “full steam” pattern and placing it at the end of a crescendo, then moving backwards removing stuff till there’s nothing left at the beginning. I did it with drum programs a lot, but also with repetitive stuff (pianos, guitars) à la Reich/Riley. I like to have an idea of my “tutti”, my maximum peak in density and intensity, then going there from zero. Th...
Rotten Ectoplasm (disquiet0617) 27.10.2023 4:09
Hi, lately I’ve been working a lot (for a professional assignment) on orchestral soundscapes, so my previous Soundcloud shares were done using sample libraries, a friend’s cello performance and my own upright basses (using my bow) This one, recorded yesterday and edited and finished today (Friday the 27th Oct 2023 is just me and my multitracked bowed bass , to achieve a noisy, creepy tone I didn’t...
Quiet Versus Silent (disquiet0616) 20.10.2023 3:49
Orchestral soundscape. I've been "testing" some gorgeous string orchestra libraries I have because next week I have a job to do with it, mostly quiet orchestral pads and soft beds. So This junto comes at the right time to try that, I played some quiet episodes combining different sample libraries and different convolutions reverbs and some Valhalla Supermassive. The only real instrument I played i...

Alternate Harmonium (disquiet0614) 06.10.2023 4:15
Harmonium Fretless bass Arpeggiators/Synths String orchestra samples. I often work with arpeggiators, and I like to combine their kinetic, steady pulse with ambient parts, rubatto and floating. I particularly like to add acoustic "real" instrument to and icy electronic arpeggiator synth. I do like all those contrasts : rhythmic vs floating, acoustic vs electro, tense vs relaxing cold vs warm etc H...

Pause - Cancion de cuna (disquiet0602) 14.07.2023 3:14
The word I use is PAUSE. I wrote a simple and beautiful melody inspired by a 1960's Argentinian lullaby/children song. Recorded it on piano forcing myself to pause between phrases and sometime sin unexpected places. The late great Ryuichi Sakamoto once said, when asked about his use of silence on composition, that he didn't use "silence" he did use pauses to create space for resonance. He said som...
So Long Vangelis (disquiet0600) 30.06.2023 2:54
Very nice samples to work with. I unmuted the first 3 (or the last 3?) the more "synth" ones, didn't use the glitchy/noise tracks. Those 3 tracks played back with no added fx or mix sounded full Vangelis for me. I miss and I know I will miss Vangelis Papathanassíou for the rest of my life. This one's for him. 3 tracks from Marcus Fischer's sample set, tweaked and slightly edited 3 tracks performed...

Phylogeny (Jazz at the Achilleion Palace) - disquiet0596 01.06.2023 3:01
A work in progress / abandonded track from early 2023, finished and remixed June 1st 2023. This track, I created earlier this year for the same proto-jazz proyect that generated my track for [junto0584](https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/nocturnal-studio-jam-number-2) this was intended to be a jazz-lounge jam, I recorded the electric piano part over a jazz drum loop and a walking upright bass, the...

Tres Flores Viejas (with morgulbee & Le Nom Des Fleurs) - disquiet0593 11.05.2023 2:10
I took this track by morgulbee https://soundcloud.com/morgulbee/dos-flores-disquiet0592?in=disquiet/sets/disquiet-junto-project-0592 who worked on "Le Nom Des Fleurs" 's track from the previous week. As suggested by morgulbee I added a funky bass line using a little old pedal from Electro Harmonix called Bass Balls that I bought 15 years ago and used once and then forgot about. It stills sounds pr...
