Are we half hearted in our faith? See wonderful examples in Hebrews Chapter 11.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27b). Jesus can truly bring us to a "cosy" place.

Today's is a simple but huge message. Isn't that the same with many deep Truths from God? 1 John 4:16 - 19 tells us that God is Love, that when we really know we are loved by God (and others) we don't fear negative consequences and in that safe place we can extend love out.

Are we whole heartedly following Jesus? Or are we blowing hot and cold? (Revelations 3;15-16). Come into His Kingdom as little children, recognising our need for Him and our vulnerability, being humble enough to be wholly led by Him. (Matthew 18:3). We may think we have got our lives right but remember Love is the most important and vital gift we can offer those around us (1 Corinthians 13:2).

We are the temple of living waters, the Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39; 1 Corinthians 3:16). Jesus has His figurative arms around us at all times, throughout all we are contending with. (Psalm 91:4)

To my surprise a pelican is mentioned in the bible a few times. The one that stands out for me today is in Psalm 102:6 when the psalmist, in his distress, likens himself to a pelican. The precise laser lights remind me of God's Word being like a 2 edged bringing the precisely Truth often needed in our lives (Hebrews 4:12). The Greek for 2 edged is Distomos - two mouths. God has first spoken His Word into our lives, giving us love and hope, which we can then repeat effectively into our lives by our words spoken in faith.

We are to be like the tree mentioned in Psalm 1:1 which is near the water's edge, representing constant dependence on God's Word. We will flourish in God's Kingdom as exemplified by the miniscule mustard seed which can grow into enormous proportions (Matthew 13:31-32).

Though God has plans for us we sometimes have our part to play in bringing them to fruition. God parted the sea but the fleeing Israelites' part was to walk through by faith. (Exodus 14:21-22)

Jesus looks at us with tender love and wants us to approach Him, trusting Him and allowing ourselves to admit our vulnerability with needs we cannot necessarily meet. (Matthew 18:3 ...become as little children ...)

How easy it is to misinterpret and misunderstand God and others. Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my way, declares the Lord".

Peter was set free from prison after much prayer had been given up for him but those who prayed did not at first believe Peter had indeed been set free (Acts 12). How often do we not really believe God will answer our prayers?

Do we believe God for His promises. He so wants to bless us but often we don't rest on His promises. What do we do with the revelations, with the Truths the Holy Spirit gives to us? Are they in a muddle or in effective order? The Holy Spirit brings the Truths to our remembrance (John 14:26)

There are many people who are in the dark regarding the Gospel, the Good News. Romans 10:14 And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?

Do we remember to spend time with The Word? This is Jesus (John 1:1, 14). Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path".

Just like we measure and prepare a meal for those we love, so does God prepare in advance for our needs ahead.

If we so desire, Jesus will restore and refresh us (Lamentations 3:22-23)

A horse represents strength. However strong we are Jesus tells us that we need to eat His body and drink His blood (John 6:53-54). I discuss this very difficult doctrine.

Yes, it may seem like a weak place when we recognise that Jesus is our crutch. Actually, it is a wonderful place to be when we recognise our need of Him. He provides for us far more wonderfully and abundantly than we can independently for ourselves

Similarly we may find sweetness and comfort in things that actually are just a shadow and an inadequate representation of the reality of an awesome God. We know there is a storm when we hear thunder and see lightning but we don't necessarily know what causes thunder and lightning. Similarly. we can see a touching picture and recognise the compassion of the artist but we don't necessarily know anything else about the artist. Aren't we like that with God? We might recognise His handiwork but do we spend time with Him getting to know Him?...
