You can imagine the irony, on a day the Jews were set to be destroyed, God used Esther and Mordecai to give them a fighting chance and ultimately victory over their enemies
Esther Chapters 5-8 13.10.2021 33:11
So many lessons to take away from our reading today. First, we already saw Esther turn to prayer and fasting in the face of a situation some might think warrants more of scheming and planning. Prayer is powerful, it connects you to a power source that is way beyond your abilities. Secondly, we learn from Mordecai who despite having been honoured and his arch enemy humiliated, he does not try to ro...

"Remember me for the good things I have done." The book of Nehemiah concludes with his various reforms and prayers that God would remember him. Nehemiah together with Ezra and the other Levites and priest held a national reading day of the word of God, the effect and outcome were amazing, there was a genuine desire individually to repent and make the needed changes to make right the way they were living. Nehemiah Chapters 1-4 08.10.2021 34:39
We start a new book again today, the book of Nehemiah. The events of the book takes place just after the second group of exiles led by Ezra the priest had returned back to Jerusalem. While Zerubbabel focused on rebuilding the destroyed temple and Ezra on restoring the people back to spiritual worship, Nehemiah's focus will be on rebuilding the broken down walls around the city of Jerusalem. If you...
Ezra Chapters 8-10 07.10.2021 35:13
The book of Ezra concludes with the returning exiles confronting those who had inter-married from other nations. While a seemingly harmless mistake, the people remembered this was part of the sins God warned them would lead them away from him to worship other gods. For Christians today, while inter-marriage might sound uninteresting, see the implications of what it eventually leads to; a differenc...

For the children of Israel, luckily, they had prophets telling them the mind of God and to take courage. 2Chronicles Chapters 33-36 04.10.2021 35:10
Manasseh's is a thorough lesson of not following others to commit evil. He leads the nation into step idolatry but later repents, the nation will not listen and follow him, even his own son, Amon will choose to follow his father's earlier wicked years. Lastly, king Josiah, even though he knew all of his actions would not change anything and the fact God already promised the tragedy on the nation w...

King Ahaz legacy is a 180 degree from the way he lived, his son, Hezekiah is everything his father wasn't. If you read Ahaz's account in 2kings, you would have known that God was so angry he offered his son as human sacrifices that he decided Judah would Israel in exile. 2Chronicles Chapters 25-28 02.10.2021 36:22
Quite disconcerting, the trend continues, a king will come, they will seek God wholeheartedly and become successful, but at the height of their success, pride will lead to their downfall. That is the story of Amaziah and Uzziah. A man of God once told us, "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." - E. A. Adeboye. As we read through the Bible, this is one lesson to make a prayer poi...
2Chronicles Chapters 21-24 01.10.2021 37:17
Israel's next 3 kings after Jehoshaphat; Jehoram, Ahaziah and Joash can all literally trace their failures as kings to being in alliance with the kings of Israel, and the one who laid the foundation, though he was a good king, was Jehoshaphat. Alliances matter, the company you keep matters, they can literally be the difference between success and failure. Lastly, the priest, Jehoiada, a lot to lea...
2Chronicles Chapters 17-20 29.09.2021 35:37
Did you know that PRAISE is one of your most powerful weapon as a Christian. Yes, praise is actually one of your most lethal weapon for spiritual warfare. How? For one, God inhabits the praises of his people (Psalms 22:3) wherever God is praised, God is present. Why? Because his glory, he will not share or give to anyone (Isaiah 42:8). No one can receive his praise on his behalf, that would be ido...

2Chronicles Chapters 9-12 28.09.2021 32:46
As king Solomon's reign ends, we see a trend begins as each king after him comes and go. Just as Solomon started so well and seemed to turn away from the Lord only as he became successful and older, most of the kings after him will do the same, they start well, become successful and then turn against God. Our second lesson today comes from the splitting of Israel into the northern and southern tri...
2Chronicles Chapters 5-8 27.09.2021 34:32
King Solomon outdid himself during the temple's dedication, it was big, it was loud, and the heavens heard. One thing was clear, during the period Solomon built the temple and dedicated it, he was focused on God and on following the instructions his father David left behind for him. Very important lessons for us today to paying attention to our temples. Secondly, as Solomon, the Levites and priest...

Building and furnishing the temple that Solomon built took careful preparation first by David and then king Solomon himself. The temple was covered in gold, it was truly magnificent. Today, you and I are like that temple, God expects us to equally take care of our bodies.
1Chronicles Chapters 28-29 25.09.2021 30:55
As David concludes his reign, he gives his son Solomon his final advise and makes a request in prayer to God; "And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately", he then prayed, "give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything...". May our children desire to seek, to know, and love God for themselves.
