Into The Void 17.03.2019

A space rock journey into the void...

Apollo 1 16.03.2019

"From left, Apollo 1 astronauts Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee pose in front of their Saturn 1 launch vehicle at Launch Complex 34 at the Kennedy Space Center. On Jan. 27, 1967, the crew was sitting atop the launch pad for a pre-launch test when a fire broke out in their capsule. The investigation into the fatal accident led to major design changes, making the Apollo space...

Alone In The Future 11.03.2019

A sad little dream pop track, mixing pianos and synths. I hope it brings you comfort. -------- Image: "Hallway, Milwaukee Art Museum", O Palsson, Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/opalsson/3454019322 -------- This is one of my Apple loop mixes/compositions.

Margaret 09.03.2019

This is a track in memory of my Aunt - Margaret Coutts - (who passed away many years ago), a warm-hearted and generous lady who was for a time stationed (in the Army) at Edinburgh Castle (pictured). I was lucky enough to attend the Edinburgh Military Tattoo with Aunt Margaret, and always associate my memory of her with the castle. My parents were working class, and never owned a car. We lived in W...

Life On The Beach 08.03.2019

How cool is life? Image: "How cool is this jelly fish on the beach as the smokey sun sets!!" by UpSticksNGo Crew https://www.flickr.com/photos/upsticksngo/23889418133

The Fate Of The Istari 03.03.2019

I was inspired to create this piece after discovering the artwork on The One Wiki To Rule Them All: https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Wizards The Istari (Quenya for "wise ones") are the Wizards of Tolkien's Middle Earth. The Istari from J.R.R Tolkien's legendarium included the "Blue Wizards" Alatar and Pallando, as well as the more familiar Radagast The Brown, Saruman The White and Gandalf The Grey. I'...

Escape Into The Light 01.03.2019

A short orchestral fantasy I created using Apple loops in Logic Pro X. Enjoy.

Battle Angel 24.02.2019

Inspired by the movie "Alita: Battle Angel". Share in Alita's journey from innocent newly reconstructed cyborg to unstoppable battle angel with vengeance on her mind. The backing track was created using Blocs Wave, with the guitar lead created in ThumbJam with the 'Middle Atmosphere' amp from AmpKit, and sound FX from the BBC.

Fear Is The Mind-killer 23.02.2019

The title is a quote from Frank Herbert's classic science-fiction novel "Dune", in which Paul Atreides must overcome excruciating pain by controlling the fear in his mind. In this track I've then combined that idea with fantasy and Dantean religious concepts about Hell and the Abyss. It's the dark soundscape to imagined fear. All synths played by me in Logic Pro X.

Tilting At Windmills 22.02.2019

Sometimes it feels good to struggle against your (imaginary) enemies... One of my Apple loop compositions with some manual drum kit playing and BBC sound FX. -------- Image: - "Bildnis von Don Quijote und Sancho Panza" - may-jay https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Don_Quijote_und_Sancho_Panza.jpg

Darkness Has Come - Elder Sign edit 16.02.2019

An alternate edit of my track Darkness Has Come (minus rock guitars and spoken vocal). https://soundcloud.com/dacca/darkness-has-come I wanted a version where it's all about the synths. ----------- Image: Waerloeg - "The Lurker At The Threshold" Image:- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Elder_sign_derleth.jpg

Darkness Has Come 15.02.2019

I thought I'd try for some synth/guitar dark magic, with synths played manually on the iTuttle synth. A very dark track, which made me think of the works of H.P. Lovecraft and his associate Cthulhu mythos writers which inspired the spoken vocal. ------------- Alternate version: https://soundcloud.com/dacca/darkness-has-come-elder-sign ------------- Waerloeg - "The Lurker At The Threshold" Image:-...

Los Freakos 10.02.2019

Time for some headbanging...

Space Invaders 09.02.2019

My humble tribute to the arcade game that changed everything. Hopefully I've captured the drama and panic that the game can induce in the players. ------------- Image taken from:- https://www.flickr.com/photos/bagogames/14750012323

London Is Hungry 06.02.2019

This fan-based non-profit track - free to download - is inspired by the 2018 film "Mortal Engines", based on the works of Philip Reeve. The artwork used is concept art by Ian McQue: https://www.mortalenginesmovie.com/2018/08/ian-mcques-mortal-engines-concept-art.html

The Hermit 28.01.2019

There is a majestic solitude to this track, which made me think what it would be like to live somewhere in isolation that was so beautiful that you could forget that you were alone. --------- Image from 'The Bondhus Glacier in Sunnhordland', Erik Dorn Bodom, 1878: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/30/Erik_Bodom_-_Bondhusbreen_i_Sunnhordland_%281878%29.jpg

Lemon Squeezer 26.01.2019

This started out with a couple of synths played by me in Logic Pro X, but I wanted it to be unexpected so began to introduce rock elements like the deep pulsing bass, drums, timpani and rock guitars. The image shows the Phillip Starck Alessi lemon squeezer, which seemed to match the track perfectly. Image cropped from: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Juicy_salif.jpg

Urban Droid Underclass 25.01.2019

With the rise of narrow Artificial Intelligence (preceding General A.I at a human level) and the increased use of robots an droids, this track considers the future of work for humans and the rise of an urbanised droid underclass. ----------- Image: - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Down-and-out.jpg

Second Foundation 19.01.2019

Completing my "Foundation Trilogy" suite. See playlist for more!

Foundation 19.01.2019

It's been a long time since I created my epic "Foundation And Empire" https://soundcloud.com/dacca/foundation-and-empire track, but I thought I'd work on completing my tribute to Asimov's wonderful Foundation Trilogy. I also completed the third track in the trilogy: https://soundcloud.com/dacca/second-foundation ----------

Magnetosphere 11.01.2019

A chilled out acoustic space rock track, for your free download and listening pleasure! I created the electric and acoustic guitar tracks using Apple loops, then added the synths. I hope you like it. ---------- Image: NASA’s Wind Mission Encounters ‘SLAMS’ Waves https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NASA’s_Wind_Mission_Encounters_‘SLAMS’_Waves_(unlabeled_version).jpg

Photosynthesis In The Dark 06.01.2019

Sometimes life is like... ---------- All instruments played by me in Logic Pro X.

Ephemeral 28.12.2018

Like the ice on the wire in this photograph, our lives too are ephemeral. That's what makes life so intense. -------- Check out this ephemeral Image taken from: "Ice On Wire" - Sheila Sund, Flickr. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sheila_sund/32628065710

What Is Reality? (The Third Ontology) 22.12.2018

I recently watched a couple of fascinating short documentaries - from Quantum Gravity Research - on the nature of reality: "What Is Reality?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0ztlIAYTCU&t=8s "Hacking Reality" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJi3_znm7ZE Quantum Gravity Research (home page): http://www.quantumgravityresearch.org Ontology is the philosophical study of reality.
