James 4:1-6 Being selfish is pretty easy to do, isn't it? We can all find ourselves focuses on our own desires and our wants far more often than we'd like to admit. Could you imagine that leading to wars and disunity though? That's exactly what we read in James chapter 4. Genuine faith is not fixated on self. So, what kind of faith do you have?

Luke 1:5-23 We often read the Christmas story with great joy and anticipation. Certainly there is joy to be had as we think about the Savior coming into the world. However, at the beginning of Luke's gospel, the people were living in a time of silence. God had not spoken to His people in 400 years! So, what would He say when He chose to speak to them? And how would His people respond?

Acts 16:16-34 When you think about going through difficulties you might find yourself gravitating toward things that can make you happy. However, you might not think to yourself, "I ought to praise God!" That's exactly what Paul and Silas did in our passage today. What did they understand about praise that we sometimes miss? Let's consider that as we prepare for thanksgiving this week.

James 3:13-18 This week we consider what real wisdom looks like. Wisdom can be misunderstood when we only see it as the thoughts or words that we have. However, James is going to make the case that the way we live is really indicating whether we have heavenly wisdom or demonic wisdom. So, let's ask ourselves this evening if we are living according to heavenly wisdom or demonic wisdom.

1 Cor 1:17-2:5 We don't usually cheer when we hear of someone dying. And especially not if we hear that they were innocent! Yet, that's exactly what happened to Jesus. The One who knew no sin became sin for us! This is good news. Let us be reminded of that glorious truth this week as we consider why it such good news that Christ died for us.

James 3:1-12 Our speech is powerful. We can think of all the ways words have had the tremendous ability to raise up or tear down throughout history. So, what does God think about our speech?
