The fruit of genuine forgiveness is genuine love. When we encounter Jesus—without resisting God’s presence and his grace—we encounter total forgiveness.

As we discover in John 5v1-16, it is never too late for Jesus to make you whole. What is true about encounters with Jesus in the Bible is still true for us today.

Fear and doubt fade in the presence of Jesus. When was the last time you were aware Jesus was with you?

What do you need Jesus to do in your life? He stands ready to meet your needs.

Jesus is loving, gentle, and inviting—even if it feels like your faith is small, you can encounter Jesus right where you are. (Please note: There are no sermon slides for this talk.)

What happens when you encounter Jesus? He interrupts your agenda, he humbles you, he transforms you, and he redefines your life’s purpose.

Depending on Jesus’ love—just like a child—is how we follow him and step into the kingdom of God.

If you’ve truly encountered Jesus, your life can never remain the same—it’s a life-altering and life-shifting experience, as a guy named Zacchaeus discovered.

Followers of Jesus seek to make peace with everyone at every opportunity. Extending an invitation to a peacemaker conversation involves humility, acknowledging reflection, and making the ask.

God calls followers of Jesus to navigate relational tension wisely as they make every effort to work for peace—and as they choose to not settle for false peace.

Peacemaking doesn’t involve judge. Instead, it means comes alongside, readily admitting our own failures and “beams,” bringing grace and truth into the relationship.

God’s people are those who make and create peace. When we make peace like Jesus did for us, we have evidence that we are filled with the Holy Spirit and that we are children of God.

Followers of Jesus are called to make other followers of Jesus—disciples are called to make other disciples. And this priority extends to our entire church: making disciples and developing leaders who take the call of Jesus seriously.

We have been given the power of the Holy Spirit to live out our purposes as followers of Jesus—to be witnesses of Jesus—for the sake of our cities, our regions, our countries, and to the nations.

Followers of Jesus are called to be like Jesus, which includes serving one another as we become people of love. We actively demonstrate self-sacrificial love by serving the people around us—and by serving those who are part of our community.

Generosity is personally transformational and communally impactful—it grows our trust in Jesus and aligns our hearts with his.

The context for following Jesus was relationship with Jesus and with others, the course for following Jesus was experiences with him and with others, and the content for following Jesus was God’s truth lived out.

We want to be people empowered by the Holy Spirit as he redeems, sanctifies, and heals our whole being, preparing us for effective gospel ministry in the world.

Scripture reveals the wisdom of God about himself and the way God designed the world to work, and it invites us into the journey of character transformation so that we live well in the world as God intends.

Jesus’ resurrection brings hope in the face of our present loss and our greatest fear.

The church is God's community sent into the world to reach one more.

When we follow Jesus, we are given a new identity—we are called to proclaim God's praises and we are called to live differently from the culture around us.

When you live a life of invitation, you help others take a step toward encountering Jesus. Every Christian can invite others to come, see, and experience Jesus.

Who’s your “one more” that has yet to know Jesus? The greatest obstacle to reaching one more might just be that we are not thinking about the people that God has strategically placed us beside for spiritual purposes.

God’s Word can change your life. Scripture has the power to form you into the image of Jesus, as you intake his Word, because God is actively present in his word.
