This morning's sermon follows the awards presentation of our children's missions reading program. We ask the question, "Is it enough to lead ordinary normal lives or does God call each of us to huge world-wide accomplishments?"

Always creative, thought provoking and application-oriented, Mark Nichols challenged us to honestly consider if we believe God can use each and every one of us.

Greg Shipley takes us through Hebrews 12 and draws great insight and application from the passage, especially regarding Christians and their sin.

In 2 Corinthians 4-5, Paul explains that while this life is difficult, those difficulties don't compare to what is to come for Believers in Christ. In the same passage he also explains the motivation Christians should have in their service for Christ -- accountability and Christ's example!

Paul teaches that comfort is not meant to only benefit us, but it should also be a comfort to others. Therefore, the comfort we receive in our difficult circumstances become a well we draw from as ministry to others.

Circumcision served as a symbol of the Law. Opposed to that was the Cross, the symbol of grace!

Bear one another's burdens -- this week we considered how to do that as a church to one of our Crossing families and assist them in their time of need.

Bud Ciotti, one of our Elders, took a turn in the the pulpit & challenged us to consider how God would have us make Paul's instruction to "bear one another's burdens" a reality in our life.

What does it mean to "walk in the Spirit?" How does walking in the Spirit nullify the power of the flesh in my life?

This Sunday was our Student Service -- the annual service that honors our high school graduates and is run by our student ministry. Dr. Michael Breece, who teaches weekly for our student ministry, provided the Sunday sermon based on lessons learned as Joshua and the nation of Israel cross the Jordan River and capture the city of Jericho. Michael opened the service in costume dressed at Joshua!

Gary Bailey shares his experience of living this life in the flesh by faith! The power of sharing how God is at work in our life is huge! It encourages the family of God and gives others the courage and inspiration to live likewise!

Paul said that the proper use of our freedom was to love others and serve them. He also warned his readers not to use their freedom as an opportunity to do wrong. The simplest summary of how to abuse freedom is to consume it for yourself -- to do as you wish without regard for those around you. This sermon touches on many issues.

God redeems us from the slavery of justifying ourselves and sets us free from that burden through faith in Christ and His justifying work on the cross. But warns us not to use our freedom to satisfy our own desires. What is the guideline on how to use freedom? Love of others. Loving others gives purpose and form to our freedom and makes sure we don't abuse it.

Sarah is considered a woman of faith, having given birth to the child of promise, Isaac. But Sarah faltered in her faith, she gave into the fear that all of us experience. Isn't it great to know that God doesn't set us aside when we falter. Instead he gives more grace! Thank God for His never-ending supply of grace & mercy!

God didn't redeem us from the Law to set us free and turn us loose. NO, He redeemed us and adopted us!

The followers of Christ through the centuries have impacted society & culture in innumerable ways. Why? What is it about following Jesus that has compelled His followers to do the unthinkable & impossible? HOPE is the answer! The Man who conquered death and gave hope to all mankind overwhelms the imagination of His people to live out His principles in ways that have changed history!

Every year Crossing Community Church and A Church of Living Hope come together to observe Good Friday. This year Pastor Paul Shumski preached on the "3's" of the final phase of Jesus' life: 3 hours of darkness, 3 phrases spoken from the Cross, 3 supernatural events, 3 days in the grave.

Paul answers the question that his reader has to be asking by this point of his letter, "If faith is how man is justified, what was the purpose of the Law?" That's a great question! This week we learn the answer!!

The covenant God made with Abraham was based on, "God will, God will, God will." While the law men live by says, "You shall, you shall, you shall." One is built on a relationship the other is built on performance. One is built on belief, the other on doing.

Paul continues to point the Galatians back to grace. In chapter 3 he reminds them of how they arrived at where they were in their spiritual journey -- it was by faith! Then he shows them that faith has been the foundation of their faith going back to Abraham.

Law + My Sacrifices = God's Favor. That was the equation that Jews lived by for hundreds of years. But God introduced a new equation that totally took man's efforts out of the equation. Man could no longer "earn" his righteousness. Now he was asked to 'believe' -- Believe + Jesus' Sacrifice = God's Favor!

Change is hard. After having all aspects of life be shaped by the Law for hundreds of years, Jewish Christians come to grips with what it means to be Christian. Does it mean that Gentiles must be Jewish to follow Christ?
