Our Core Values 2023: Prayer 19.03.2023

Too often, we see prayer as something to do when we need help. We neglect that the Lord of the universe has made himself readily available to his people. Tuscaloosa, AL.

"The Mighty One, God, the Lord, He knows!" - Joshua 22 05.02.2023

This morning, we continue in the book of Joshua. As the chapter begins, we see Manasseh, Gad, and Reuben cross the Jordan to settle on the land given to them. While there, they construct an altar to the Lord that provokes war with the rest of Israel. As the story plays out, we see a picture of a confrontation, built on assumption, lead to a mutual understanding and reconciliation. We hope this mes...

"God is Sovereign Over the Details" - Joshua 15-19 22.01.2023

As Hank teaches through the allotment of the Israelite's inheritance, we see a "small" biblical truth- God is sovereign over the details. God doesn't show up, God never leaves. He is intricately involved with every aspect of creation. The breath we take each morning points to Lord's hand sustaining His people. We hope this message blesses you in the Lord. Originally January 22nd, 2023. Hank Atchis...

“The Lord’s Best Gift for the Israelites Isn’t the Land, it’s Himself” - Joshua 13-14:15 15.01.2023

This morning, Hank walks through Joshua 13 and 14 as Joshua outlines the dividing up of the land. The land was a gift for the Israelites because they were the Lord’s people. They didn’t earn it, they received it as a gift. While this land is plentiful, their true gift is the Lord himself.  Originally January 15th, 2023. Hank Atchison. Covenant Church. Tuscaloosa, AL.

"Made New in Christ Jesus" - 2nd Corinthians 5:11-21 08.01.2023

Every year starts in pursuit of something. We think about things we want to accomplish, save up for, work towards, and even just maintain. Sometimes we prioritize things that don't really matter. Graciously, when we look to our relationship and walk with Christ Jesus, if you know him, the goal has already been accomplished. In Him, you have been made a new creation. It was not your doing, nor did...

"Salvation is a Grace Given by God in Spite of Ourselves" - Joshua 9:1-27 20.11.2022

As we continue in Joshua 9 this week, we see the Israelites deceived by the Gibeonites. They are in fear of the God of Israel and seek to be in covenant with them for their own protection. The Gibeon story is one we can relate to- they deserved the wrath of God, yet they are shown grace. If our salvation was dependent on us, there would be no hope. Let us look to the Gospel as we review the story...

"Cursed is the Man Who Hangs on a Tree" - Joshua 8:1-35 13.11.2022

In Joshua 8, after their defeat at the hands of Ai, the Israelite story is a little more optimistic as they hand Ai a massive defeat. Rather than disobeying the Lord, they listened and obeyed what He commanded them and they received victory. We hope this message blesses you in the Lord. Originally November 13th, 2022. Hank Atchison.  Covenant Church. Tuscaloosa, AL.

"It's a New Day!" - Joshua 5:1-15 16.10.2022

As we continue in Joshua this week, we see the story of Exodus end. The Lord, in his faithfulness, has brought his people to take the promised land. No longer are they to survive on manna wandering in the desert, but they are to eat the fruit from the vine in the land of Canaan. The Lord has brought them to a new day.  Originally October 16th, 2022. Hank Atchison. Covenant Church. Tuscaloosa,...

"Our God is Always Faithful" - Joshua 4 09.10.2022

Looking to the previous chapter, Joshua picks up as the Israelites cross the Jordan. Through His power, the Lord has brought his people into the promised land and has fulfilled the promise He made to deliver them. Joshua directs them to build a memorial out of twelve stones to remind them what the Lord has done on their behalf. Why is this necessary? Human beings are prone to forget.  As we l...
