The idea that faith and science are incompatible is mostly due to misunderstanding the nature, function and limits of both.

Most of us treat the Bible as a collection of disconnected verses given to us by God to provide wisdom, guidance, and comfort. But it is better understood as a collection of writings that tell one epic story of God, creation, his people and redemption.

You cannot be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature.

Love is a refuge that is always available and more than enough.

The opposite of agape love is not hate; it’s self-absorption.

In an impatient and hostile world, agape love is countercultural.

Anything minus love equals nothing.

Our closest relationships are radically reoriented under the Lordship of Christ, who rules with self-giving love.

Our identity in Christ leads to a different, countercultural lifestyle in a new, multiethnic humanity marked by mercy, generosity, forgiveness and love.

Christ has launched a Kingdom that provides a hope filled answer to life’s biggest questions: Who am I? What’s wrong with me? Why am I here?

The glorious hope of Easter is not just what Christ has done for you but what he can do in you.

Jesus calls us to discern between right and wrong, good and evil, but not to sit in a place of superiority to condemn.

Everything Jesus said and did culminated in the way of loving your enemies, which is the hallmark of early Christianity.

Jesus is after the full transformation of our hearts (thoughts, motives) and our lives (behavior) than he is in superficial compliance with the rules.

In a dark and deteriorating culture, there is nothing more persuasive than ordinary people living as Jesus taught.

Jesus turns our expectations upside down by saying it’s the weak, sad, and overlooked who are “blessed” in God’s kingdom.

This past year has brought some relationships closer together. But many others drifted apart. No matter your situation, there is always an opportunity to get a fresh start with the ones you love.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the church to go through a hard factory reset. This time in our history is an opportunity to revisit our mission’s roots, revitalize our core, and relaunch for greater fruitfulness.

Some of us have grown closer to God over the past year. But many others of us have drifted. Now is the time to reengage by reestablishing the habits and rhythms that draw us closer to God and his people.

God meets our honest lament with a willingness to remind us of his power in the past and to show us the future from his perspective. These authentic conversations with God ultimately lead us into direct contact with his goodness, enabling us to praise him in every circumstance.

Although we don’t live in a culture where people routinely bow down to idols carved from wood or stone, much of the pain and suffering we endure is due to the idolatry of our hearts. This week we’ll get honest with ourselves and God as we uncover how power, wealth, and sex continue to trap people as unrelating masters, while the gospel has power to set people free.

Our conversations with God are meant to be two-way, meaning we both speak AND listen.

Bringing your honest questions and doubts to God is an important part of developing an authentic faith.

Christmas means that when we walk through hard times, we never walk alone.
