This week we talked about the heart. Learning from David that, in contrast to the view of the world around us, just because we feel or think something in our hearts doesn't mean it's good or right or of God. And we discovered that when we bring our hearts in to alignment with His word we do then discover the fullness of life that comes from God living in our midst.

Today Glenys Lewis shared with us from 1 Chronicles 23 where we meet the Levites at a time when their circumstances had changed and the role they had fulfilled was no longer required. As we looked at the scriptures we discovered that even though seasons and circumstances change, no matter what happens as the people of God we are all needed, and we all have a purpose and role to play.

This week Matt talked to us from 2 Samuel 21, looking at how through this story the heart of the bible - the gospel message about Jesus, is revealed. We as people all experience famine (loss of love, peace, hope, joy and goodness) because of sin, but there is one who pays the price so that we can move from famine to feast.

This week, bouncing on themes raised from 2 Samuel 17-19, Jonalan shared with us about the importance of unity in the church, about the blessing it that comes from it, and about how to walk together in it.

This week Matt Holman shared with us from 2 Samuel 11-12 and Psalm 51. He talked about how despite King David's awful actions and subsequent cover ups - God still made a way for him to come back into his presence. The same invitation is continuously offered for us today!

As part of our journey towards seeking God as He calls us to leave our building we are having a week of prayer and fasting. But before we do that we wanted to share some thoughts with you on fasting: what it is, how and why we're doing it.

We long to be a people who are bringing and living the Kingdom of Heaven, but we have an enemy who strives stop us. This week from studying 2 Samuel 10 we learnt from the life of King David how to overcome the enemy and see the goodness of God's kingdom succeed.

This week, starting with Psalms 1, 2, 15 & 22, Matt encouraged us to meditate on God's word and discover Jesus. Then we took some time to meditate on a section of scripture where we might not expect to find Jesus (1 Chronicles 1) but we do. And we discovered that this seemingly boring list of names shows us how in every generation there is still hope found in Jesus.

This week Emma spoke to us from our weeks worth of daily bible readings (1 Chronicles 11-16, 2 Samuel 5, and some Psalms). She shared how we aren't the main characters in our story, we are players in God's story, and our role matures as we grow into who he made us to be.

On Sunday 7th July David spoke to us from the Psalms in which Asaph struggles and then remembers what God had done. David helped up with our struggles by taking the wisdom of Asaph and helping us to remember what Jesus has done for us - His purpose, His miracles and His promises.

This week Emmanuel shared from 2 Samuel 2:1-12, and 2 Samuel 3:17-18, about how God wants to bless you and move you forward. But He can only do this if you will choose Him as your king, if you will be fully dependant on Him and His ways, if you will be persistent in prayer and in seeking Him above all else.

This week we saw that the Spirit of God was at work in David's life teaching him and showing him that "just because you can, doesn't mean you should", there is often a better way - The way of the Lord. That same Spirit is given to those who turn to Jesus, and teaches and shows us that we too can live in the better way, the Lords way.

This week we talked about the concept of fear, something we experience when we encounter things that are bigger or more powerful than we have ever encountered before. But the Bible invites us not to fear, and to turn our worry into wonder by shifting our hearts gaze to Jesus.

Today, from the opening stories of 1 Samuel, we discovered that even in our unfaithfulness, our brokenness, and our struggles, God is faithful and is pleased to call us His own.

This week we discovered that in Samson we see our own story and struggle, but also we see the hope of Jesus who offers us life like no other.

Heidi encouraged us to trust God's goodness and His ability to bring about good in every situation. She asked us if, on this Pentecost Sunday where we remember the Holy Spirit descending on the believers, we need to lay ourselves before God again and ask him to change us from the inside out.

Emmanuel draws on Joshua's final words to Israel and encourages us to "be very careful to love the Lord your God" (Joshua 23:11), to dwell in the good land the Lord has promised us, but also not to stop there... to press onward into more of God's calling; encouraging us to love one another and to read and obey scripture.

This week Matt shared with us from Joshua 6, the story of how God led the Israelites to bring down the walls of Jericho. This story spoke to us of how God wants to bring down the walls around our hearts, and restore life, hope, joy and peace to the hard, hurting and hidden areas of our lives.

This week Lindsay Caplin, one of our regional ministers from the West of England Baptist Network, came to share with us. She spoke on the life and hope that God offers his people in the Bible and how we today can choose to live in that.

Last week Andy challenged us to look back, take stock and move forward. This week Matt built on that message by asking how do we move forward and using Deuteronomy 11 to help us find that answer.
