I was born in London to Kiwi parents who were there on their honeymoon. You may think it must have been a long honeymoon but that’s a story for another time. The protection offered by marine reserves allows marine ecosystems to flourish. We all play a part in protecting these special areas. Te Whanganui-o-Hei / Cathedral Cove marine reserve is part of the rohe (area) first claimed by Hei, leader of Ngati Hei, who arrived in 1350 AD on Arawa waka. My studio, nestled within our developing garden, provides a sanctuary for my creativity.
