In Adam, we’re stuck—slaves to sin, bound by the law, and headed for death. But in Jesus?  Everything changes. We have freedom to live how we were meant to live—as true image bearers of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, walking in victory, and secured by grace. No more chains and no more regret. It’s a new day, and we’ve got a new identity—and it ain't Adam!

Salvation isn’t something that we earn—and neither is the transformation that follows. Paul makes it clear...righteousness doesn’t come by effort, heritage, or performance. No—right standing with God comes by faith. That means that there’s no room for boasting in the Gospel—only room for us to agree with what Jesus says is true and to trust in His work. In the opening chapter of Romans, Paul paints a picture of a world spiraling into sin—and the religious crowd who nods along in agreement. They see the World and say: “It’s those people who are the problem.” Now here we are—2,000 years later with the same mindset. The Church is the ongoing chapter of the Story of Scripture where we get to play a part! We are now the body of Christ, called to spread the Gospel, love one another, and bring God’s Kingdom. The Fall...the moment everything broke. Humanity was created to rule with God, but in a tragic act of rebellion, we chose sin over Him. That choice shattered creation, bringing separation from God. Betrayal, criticism, and unspoken expectations can take a toll on pastors. And if we’re not  careful, resentment creeps in. We’re called to forgive, but some wounds are hard to let go. It’s easy to put pastors on a pedestal...but the truth? We struggle with sin just like everyone else. We fight pride, impatience, and unhelpful thoughts we wish we didn’t have. The title “pastor” doesn’t make us immune to temptation or failure. But the good news is, our hope isn’t in our own righteousness—it’s in Jesus. None of us is excluded…we all need His mercy. Paul arrives in Rome—a prisoner in the heart of enemy territory—yet the gospel keeps advancing. Shackles couldn’t silence him, obstacles couldn’t deter him, and suffering couldn’t stop the fire of revival. God’s will may not happen overnight, but in the end? God wins. As the gospel exploded across the world, a crucial question arose—did Gentiles need to follow Jewish law to be saved? The Jerusalem Council settled it: Salvation is by grace alone. With that decision, the wildfire of revival burned even brighter. And the same is true today—the Kingdom advances when we stop adding burdens and start pouring out grace. Scriptures Acts 15

Saul was an enemy of the Church—until he took a fateful trip to Damascus. In an instant, his life was transformed, and the man who once persecuted Christians became Paul, the greatest missionary in history. Just weeks earlier, the disciples were hiding in fear, uncertain and afraid. But when the Holy Spirit fell at Pentecost, everything changed. These once timid followers became bold preachers, standing in the streets proclaiming Jesus with power. And what’s incredible is that the same Spirit who turned cowards into conquerors is available and alive in us today. Scriptures Acts 2

The God of Busyness tricks us into believing that worth is found in constant activity. We serve it when we fill every moment—equating hustle with purpose while neglecting rest, relationships, and God. But we neglect the toll this false god takes on our life—asking more and more of us…fooling us to believe that our true happiness is found in our busyness. Scriptures Matthew 11:28-30

The God of Comfort promises us ease and security, lulling us into complacency. We give in when we prioritize convenience over calling—avoiding risk, sacrifice, or anything that makes us uncomfortable. But Jesus calls us to something totally different...to deny ourselves, to take up our cross, and to step into a faith that challenges and stretches us. Scriptures John 21:15-19

The God of Tribalism feeds on division—demanding our loyalty to groups over grace and truth. It whispers that "Us vs. Them" is just the way that the world is, convincing us to see others as enemies rather than fellow image-bearers of God. We serve this false god when we let politics, social circles, or ideologies define us. It’s time for us to tear this idol down. Scriptures John 17:20-23

Here’s one of the best definitions for humility: “To see yourself in a truly accurate light. Not any more than you are, and not any less.” That second part? The “not any less?” That is massively important. If we’re going actually to become better for the long haul, we have to be able to recognize change and see wins. We have to be able to say: “I’m getting better!” Scriptures John 17:20-23

You ever heard the phrase: “It’s going to get worse before it gets better?” There’s a lot of truth in that statement. Oftentimes before we can take significant strides in life, we’re forced to endure a significant setback or two. And unfortunately, it can be debilitating to those of us who are actively trying to improve our lives—but it doesn't have to be that way! Scriptures John 15:1-5

Why should we pursue “better” in our life? It’s actually pretty simple—because we all were made for better! Our efforts to improve in life aren’t to get into God’s good graces. We’re already there because of Jesus! No—our efforts to improve are because God had created us with unbelievable purpose, design, and potential that our world around us badly needs. Deep down, we all long for something more...

We’re done measuring our progress through comparison. We’re over the notion that if we just try hard enough, we can do it all exactly right. We’re used to the fact that we’re not perfect...and that’s just fine with us. Because this year? We’re committed to kicking “perfect”—an unreachable and unsustainable goal—to the curb in lieu of something better . Scriptures Philippians 3:10-14

When a computer has too much—too many photos, applications, files—what happens? It crashes. We’re not so different. Too many things happening can very quickly become an unbearable load. And generally, at the start of the year, we sign ourselves up for too many things. We’d all do well to simplify—to identify the essentials in life and give them our focus."
