We've celebrated Communion and Baptism as parts of the Church's  expression of worship for the last 2000 years. What is it about these  "Acts of Commitment" that makes them so important and long-lasting? Why  do we continue them to this day?

We've all heard the story before... unexpected traveler helps out when the religious guys won't. But what does it mean to ask the question of ourselves that Jesus is answering: Who is my neighbour? How do I live Jesus' kind of life by loving God and loving my neighbour like myself?

Humanity exists in conflict: conflict with God, with the human community, and with the rest of the creation that sustains us. Why does this happen, especially in the church? Dr. Terry LeBlanc brings us back to Acts 15 to show us the way the early church strived to live in good relationship with each other. 

Jesus chose to wrap up his famous Sermon on the Mount with a short parable of two house builders. One was wise, building his house on a strong rock foundation, the other foolishly built it on the sand. On what kind of foundation are we building our lives?

When tragedy happens, is it God's judgement for sin? Jesus tackles this question in Luke 13:1-9 and warns us not to push off taking him seriously. 

Getting back into our Parables series, we examine and reflect on Jesus's response to the Pharisees disdain for the moral character of his listeners. Do you feel like a lost sheep? One of the 99? What does Jesus have to say to us?

This week at our "Church at the Waterfront", we tackle the perception that Christians seem to be against everything! Where does this come from, and is it warranted? 

Our first "Church at the Waterfront" service, we tackle the uncomfortable reality that Christianity has been a tool of oppression by colonialism and a very "worldly" perspective of the Kingdom of God. Is faith in Jesus more than this? Do we have to become "like them" to become "like Jesus?"

We begin our "You have heard it said" series with an assumption many have made about Christianity: you can either take the Bible seriously or science seriously. What if we don't have to choose one or another. What if they're both communicating truth from different angles or trying to answer different questions. Listen as we unpack whether Christianity is anti-science!

Radical forgiveness is at the core of the life of following Jesus. In Matthew 18, Jesus teaches a parable that challenges our lack of mercy in the face of God's mercy towards us. 

This week we look at Jesus' parable of the Sower, or "The Seed & The Soil" and are invited to reflect on what kind of soil we are.

This week, we look at Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son s . A younger son disowns his father, takes his inheritance, and squanders it. When he returns, his Father is filled with compassion and his older brother is filled with anger. 

This week we started into a new series at Cornerstone Montague on the Parables of Jesus. We start by exploring what the parables are, why Jesus taught this way, and then dove into the parable of "The Treasure in the Field."
