Conversations with Danny Weddle

Larry Wood played basketball and baseball at Bracken County and Eastern Kentucky. He was the head coach at Maysville High School five seasons. Wood shares stories about Bracken County's 1955 10th Region championship team, his playing days at Eastern Kentucky and coaching the Maysville Bulldogs.

Fanny Stahl played basketball at St. Patrick High School, Villanova University and Xavier University. He also coached at St. Patrick. This interview was recorded in 2012.

Tom Corde, the first member of the Mason County Royals' 1,000 point club, was named to the All-MAC Team his senior season at Ohio University. He was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1972. He shares stories about growing up in Washington and his basketball career. 

Joe Goecke is a 1961 graduate of Augusta High School. He is 10th on the Panthers' all-time scoring list. He scored 62 points vs. Nicholas County including 45 points in one half. He was recruited by Coach Joe B. Hall to play basketball at Regis College in Denver, Colorado.

Gary Kidwell talks about playing and coaching sports, writing a newspaper column and hosting a weekly radio show. He tells some interesting stories about hitchhiking home from basketball practice, batting against Woodie Fryman and coaching the Lewis County High School baseball and basketball teams. Kidwell was inducted into the Morehead State University Alumni Hall of Fame in October.

Homer Cablish III, a 1970 graduate of Maysville High School, shares stories about his family, growing up in Maysville, playing knothole baseball and high school baseball and basketball, his Hall of Fame baseball career at Morehead State University and his career as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida.

Lew Cook was the head coach of the Mason County Royals football team from 1981 to 1986. He retired from teaching at Mason County High School in 1998. Danny and Lew discuss Cook's coaching and teaching career, his time as a basketball official, his involvement with Kentucky Changers mission projects and disaster relief work.

Ted Purcell played on the first basketball team at Mason County High School and  the first football team at Fleming County High School. He is the first member of the Fleming County Football Hall of Fame. He shares many interesting stories.
