Our guest on this feature is Pastor Arthur Mellon. He serves at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church of Hayward, CA. Pastor Mellon talks about how his church started and the interesting paths the Lord took him on before calling him to become a pastor; but most importantly, how (when) he became saved!

We’ve been hearing from Jonah who has been sharing his incredible story of how he came to the United States, escaping the Communist takeover of South Vietnam on a small boat that he and his brother built, with 17 others on board. Jonah tells how it was for them when they spotted land after drifting in the sea for so many nights and days. In 1975, at the end of the Vietnam War after the fall of the then-capital, Saigon of South Vietnam, many Vietnamese people escaped their country by boat or by land. The journey was dangerous, with many people dying at sea. Our guest was one of those people, who shares about his courageous journey and how the Lord guided him and all those who traveled with him. On our last few podcasts, Linda Eve has been sharing her story about her 5-year captivity in a labor camp by the Communist regime in the late 1970's, her escape; and then about coming to America and being exposed to Christianity. Now, on our concluding visit with her, Linda talks about taking God’s help back to Cambodia!  

On our last podcast Linda Eve shared her heart-wrenching story of how she went from almost becoming a medical doctor in Cambodia to being relocated to a forced labor camp in the country by the Communists. She was there for five years before escaping. She told how she had to walk nearly 100 miles on foot through jungles, and avoiding mine fields, to Thailand before coming to America.

In Cambodia, a genocide was carried out by the by the Communist Khmer Rouge regime between 1975 and 1979. During that period soldiers relocated most of the population from urban cities to forced labor camps. Malnutrition, torture, and mass executions led to the deaths of an estimated 25% of the total population - 1.5 to 3 million people. How did Linda Eves endure these hardships?!

He mentioned in his testimony that he came to truth under his own preaching and how true repentance plays an important role.

In our concluding talk with Hans Shapp, who had come West from behind the wall in Communist East Germany in the ‘70s,  he shares how he feels called to go out onto the highways and by-ways of life to share the Gospel wherever he can - even back to those drugs and alcohol-fueled  discos where he once was a frequent visitor!

We’ve been visiting with Hans Shapp, who’s been sharing with us how he came out of East Germany in the ‘70's, when barriers of barbed wire and concrete walls blocked off the West, to what he thought was a newfound freedom. But not until he was introduced to Jesus as his Lord and Savior did his life really change!

During the night of August 13, 1961, the East German government closed off the border from the West. Hans Shapp grew up in East Germany during this time; he tells his story of suddenly being cut off from the West and living behind the wall!

We’re visiting with Teddy Feldmann, the Community Outreach Coordinator, at CityTeam in Oakland, CA. Teddy has been telling us about the services and programs they offer to those in need on the streets, and how they change lives, as he was helped, as well!

We’re continuing our visit with artist Deborah Samia. On our concluding visit with her, she talked about how one's gifts, and her gift of art in particular, can be used for the Lord, as well as the battle between self-glory and giving God the glory!
