comPOSERS: The Movie Score Podcast

This week's episode calls for 1 ounce of Titanic, 1 ounce of Interstellar, and a dash of Gravity. Shake well with cheese and you get Passengers, a very flawed but enjoyable film with a very flawed but enjoyable score.

Our quarantines continue on this Breaking News episode where we discuss Hans Zimmer's new BMW commercial, Alexandre Desplat getting the boot from Black Widow, Alan Silvestri's 70th birthday, the great loss of Penderecki, and OF COURSE, David Arnold photoshopping beards on celebrities. We can relate to his new found insanity.

This week we return to Sherwood Forest to cover our 2nd of the 70 Robin Hood productions made since 1908. Join us as we discuss Kevin Costner's ridiculous accent and Michael Kamen's highly entertaining score. This was the final episode we recorded "pre-quarantine" so all episodes going forward will be in "record-from-home" format as we continue to social distance.

This week, we follow an avant filmmaker down a rabbit hole in The Alps, where we tackle not just Willem Dafoe's bizarre flask-holster, but also the bizarre and piecemeal (but ultimately fascinating) score by our favourite Frenchman, Alexandre Desplat. Buckle up, hipsters: it's time to enter the two-dimensional world of Wes Anderson's "Grand Budapest Hotel".

Right. Now that the previous Retrospective episode has hopefully been completely forgotten about, we move on to Series 4. This week we're discussing Mad Max: Fury Road, the epic George Miller action film and its music composed by an extra large junkie.

So, for this week's episode we decided to return to his heyday, way back when Zimmer's army of ghost-writers wasn't a thing, in the hopes of finding something decent from his fruitful early 90's renaissance period. We somehow landed on Cool Runnings... and it's actually good.
