Stan and Maude tune in and drop out with the likes of the Mamas and the Papas, Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds and more in the music documentary “Echo in the Canyon.”

Stan the Movie Man picked this week’s movie, Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite. Stan thinks it’s one of the best movies he’s ever seen while Maude the Flummoxed Broad agrees it’s a movie.

Maude’s pick this episode is a look back at the life of an amazing singer gone far too soon. We watched Amy, the documentary following the meteoric rise and devastating fall of Amy Winehouse.

For the first episode of 2020, it was Stan’s turn to pick. The Will Ferrell film Stranger Than Fiction has history with Stan, and he wanted to share it with Maude the Cookie Broad. All of this will make more sense after you listen to the episode.

Maude is still in the mood to celebrate the season with 1942’s Holiday Inn, starring Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Marjorie Reynolds. While the film has cringe-inducing scenes of blackface and outdated ideas about the autonomy of women, the charm of the stars and the breezy dance numbers almost make up for the racism and sexism.

This episode, Stan the Movie Man picked the most recent version of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch. Is this retelling of How the Grinch Stole Christmas just the thing to make your heart grow three sizes? Maude the Green Broad and Stan have some thoughts.

Maude and Stan jump into the wayback machine to a Christmas long past for the 1949 TV version of THE Christmas Carol, starring Vincent Price.

Stan the Movie Man reached back into the childhood archive and pulled the only film for which John Wayne won an Oscar, 1969’s True Grit. It has sweet memories for Stan, but will his better half, Maude the Pluckie Broad, feel the same way?

Maude dives into the musty bookshelves of an Anglophile in New York City and a quaint bookstore in London in the 1986 film 84 Charing Cross Road.

With help from Maude, Stan selected the 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic The Shining, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. There are things to like and dislike about the film and we hit them all.

Maude’s pick this week makes for a serious episode for the first half as she and Stan watched the documentary Defiant Requiem, telling the story of a Jewish musician’s defiant presentation of Verdi’s Requiem in a World War II concentration camp.

Stan’s pick this week is the odd and atmospheric The Lighthouse, a story of two men driven mad by isolation on a small island. Is Maude mad about Stan’s choice? Listen and find out.

Maude the Sincere Broad made this episode’s pick, Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! While it’s her Halloween favorite, Maude has a bone to pick with corporate America for monkeying with this classic.

It was Maude the Tic Tic Tic Broad’s turn to pick what she and Stan the Movie Man watched and she selected the HBO comedy special Gary Gulman: The Great Depresh, chronicling the comedian’s battle with mental illness. Not the funniest standup you’ll ever see, but possibly the most important.

Stan the Movie Man attempts to drive Maude the Movie Broad over the edge with his choice of the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Does he succeed? You’ll need to listen to find out.
