Dec 21- The Shepherds 21.12.2020 6:38
As we ponder why the angels announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds we can learn a principle of personal revelation. And as we watch the shepherds reactions to the announcement of the birth of Christ, we learn how we can approach opportunities to come to know the Savior.
Dec 20- The Innkeeper 20.12.2020 6:17
Every single day, multiple times a day, we make choices that determine if we will have room for the Savior. As we become intentional about the things that invite Him in, we will always have room for Christ.
Dec 19- Moroni 10:32-34 19.12.2020 11:36
Elder Renlund once said, "The greater the distance between the giver and the receiver, the more the receiver develops a sense of entitlement." I was just thinking this morning about how true that is of the atonement of Jesus Christ. The closer I am to Him, through prayer, scripture study, temple worship, etc the more I am struck with wonder and awe at the Savior's goodness and mercy and grac...
Dec 18- Moroni 10:32 18.12.2020 10:33
Every single day we accept invitations, they may be big or small...we may not even recognize them as invitations. But among all these invitations, Elder Eyring taught that the most important invitation we can ever accept is the invitation to come unto Christ. But how do we do it? It seems so easy when we say it, but how do we accomplish it? Today we will talk about how to come unto Christ so that...
Dec 17- 8-17...Again 17.12.2020 8:56
It's easy sometimes to look at other's gifts and compare them to our weaknesses. To wonder why we aren't blessed with a gift or talent that we really want. But I love the idea that we explore today, that we don't all have every good gift, because we aren't meant to do it all by ourselves. We were meant to need each other. Meant to rely on each other. So as you consider the gifts that you have been...
Moroni 10:8-18 16.12.2020 11:10
I think we have all been there, comparing someone's very visible gift, to our lesser seen, possibly even unknown gift. I think we are all guilt at some point in our lives of thinking, "I wish I could do...or be..." But Moroni teaches us that God gives all of us good gifts. Some may be visible. Others may be completely unknown even to ourselves. However, each of us have the responsibility to discov...
Dec 15- Moroni 10:5 15.12.2020 9:53
Today we are going to talk about the 3rd aspect of "Moroni's Promise." The past two days we have talked about what we have to do, today we are going to talk about what the Lord can do for us. SPOILER ALERT: It's A LOT!
Dec 14- Moroni 10:4 14.12.2020 10:32
Today we continue to look at "Moroni's Promise." Here in these verses it seems that Moroni is giving us homework in order to know truth. If God wants us to all know the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, why not just say, "Hey when you read this I am going to knock you off your feet with revelation that it is true." Why does He as us to put the effort in so that we can know, "the truth of all thi...
Moroni 10:3 13.12.2020 8:59
Often, when we talk about Moroni's Promise found in chapter 10 we place our focus on verses 4-5, and for good reason, they are wonderfully powerful verses. But if we jump straight to those verses we miss out on the opportunity to strengthen our testimonies of who God is and one of His most defining characteristics.
Dec 12- Moroni 9:6 12.12.2020 9:48
Moroni 9 is kind of a hard chapter to read. It is filled with all the difficult things that Mormon encountered as he tried to preach to the wicked people of his day. However, amid all the hard things, Mormon teaches us a really important lesson in verse 6. In our callings both in the church and in our families, one of the most difficult things we can go through is when our efforts and teachings ar...
Dec 11- Moroni 8 11.12.2020 10:06
Is it possible to love someone that you don't know? I think so. I have felt love for people I have never met, and people that I have just met. But I think that is different from the "perfect love" that Mormon writes about. I think that in order to love God perfectly, we need to know Him. And as we come to know Him and Love Him then we begin to place our trust completely in Him. With our trust in H...
Dec 10- Moroni 7:45-48 10.12.2020 9:54
I love the 3 main points of this chapter! Faith IN Christ, Hope BECAUSE OF Christ, and Love LIKE Christ! Today we will take a look at what Charity is, how we can better recognize if we have developed this attribute, but we will also discuss what the pure love of Christ is, and how it can change us.
Dec 9 Moroni 7:30&41 09.12.2020 9:09
Elder Uchtdorf teaches that faith hope and charity are like a 3 legged stool. As we study the teachings of Mormon here in chapter 7 we see that that is true. However, Mormon points all 3 virtues to Christ. Faith IN Christ. Hope BECAUSE OF Christ. And love LIKE Christ. As we strive for all three virtues we are changed BY Christ.
Dec 8- Moroni 7:20-22 08.12.2020 9:57
This time of year can be tricky. All the toy catalogues that get mailed to the house, all the commercials for every fun toy ever made, my kiddos get a little wanty. And I, as their mom want to give them their hearts desires. I have to really hold myself back! In verse 20 Mormon wants to teach us how to lay ahold upon every good thing. Meaning he wants to teach us how to hold tight to everyth...
Dec 7- Moroni 6:13,16-17 07.12.2020 10:07
In my 12 years teaching the youth in various capacities, HANDS DOWN the number 1 question I have been asked is, "How can I tell if it is my thoughts or the Spirit?" President Hinckley once said that the answer to that question can be found in Moroni 7:13,16&17. Today we will look at Moroni's answer, and we will also dig deeper and see what Elder Bednar says about how to discern the spirit when...
Dec 6- Moroni 7:2-4 06.12.2020 9:51
Mormon talks about the salvation of those who walk peaceably among their fellow man. That peaceable walk, that meekness and love that they showed in a time when the world was falling apart all around them was a requisite that Mormon observed for their returning to our Father in Heaven. In a world of increasing contention and anger, let us show that we follow Christ in everything as we walk peaceab...
Dec 5- Moroni 6:5-6 05.12.2020 10:00
Growing up we joked that we were ALWAYS the last ones out of the building on Sundays because my amazingly social and friendly parents talked to everyone they saw, and sought out those they didn't see. I didn't understand it then but how I understand and love it now. One phrase in today's verses says that we get together often in the church to, among other things, "Speak one with another concerning...
Dec 4- Moroni 6:4 04.12.2020 9:36
I love the phrase where it says that Christ is the "author and finisher of our faith." Our testimony of the Savior should be the beginning and the end of our testimonies. In the scriptures when something is finished or complete, it means that it is whole. Without faith in Christ, without a testimony of who He is and His divinity our testimonies cannot be made whole. It doesn't matter what other pr...
Dec 3- Moroni 4-5 03.12.2020 7:37
The words sacrifice and sacrament have the same root, SACER, which means to make holy. Just as they used the law of sacrifice in the old testament to become holy, we can use the sacrament each week to become more like the Savior. As we approach the sacramental altar each week with the sacrifice of a broken heart and contrite spirit we can better take His name upon us.
Dec 2- Moroni 4-5 02.12.2020 9:19
Have you ever wondered why the 2 sacrament prayers are different? If it was the same covenant and same promise being made with each prayer you would think they would be worded the same, right? But they aren't, they are different. And I think the differences in the prayers can teach us a lot about Heavenly Father's intentions.
Dec 1- Moroni 2:2-3 01.12.2020 9:05
As Moroni clarifies some of the teachings of the Savior from 3rd Nephi, there is a really cool principle that is taught between the lines. In verse 2 the Savior gives His disciples the authority to confer the gift of the Holy Ghost, however, He makes a point of telling them that they have to do something to obtain the POWER to do it. SO it becomes clear that the authority comes from the ordaining...
Nov 30- Moroni 1:4 30.11.2020 9:01
Moroni, surprised that he is still around tells us that he will continue to write with the hopes that it will be of worth. Which begs the question, what is the Book of Mormon worth to you?
Nov 29- Moroni 1 29.11.2020 9:39
Moroni shows us his "ALL IN" attitude here in this chapter. He has been wandering for 36 years, not knowing if the next day was the day he would be discovered by the Lamanites and killed because he had made the determination that he would never deny his faith. In little ways, you and I make decisions everyday that determine where our allegiance lies. Let us always choose the cause of Christ.
Ether 15:1-3 28.11.2020 10:23
There are several times in the book of Ether where Ether asks Coriantumr to repent, and to call his people to repentance. I am sure that never, in any of those moments, did Coriantumr think, "this is it. This is the decision that will lead to millions of my people being killed." Our choices don't work like that. Usually the choices that will determine the big outcomes are made in the small moments...
Nov 27- Ether 12:38-41 27.11.2020 10:33
We are lucky! Because Moroni didn't know how long he would live before he was killed we get a few different farewell talks from him. Verses 38-41 are one of those farewells and they are PHENOMENAL! His testimony of the personal ministry of Jesus Christ is amazing, but it makes me wonder. We know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Which means the Savior can still minister in a very...
