When the Lord disbanded Zion's Camp there were many who didn't understand. The assumed that the Lord had commanded them to redeem Zion the place by military force. Today we learn that the Lord had something better in store. He wanted to endow Zion, the people by priesthood ordinances.

The Lord tells us that it is His purpose to provide for His children but that it needs to be done in His way. Section 102 consists of the minutes from the very first high council meeting, which centered on church discipline and how to use it to help people repent and come to Christ. Today before starting this weeks come follow me block I wanted to cover a scripture that was lost in the uploading mishap from yesterday. Today we discuss the dangers of consulting with ourselves rather than consulting with the Lord.

Here the Lord is making promises for those who He calls Israel. From President Nelson we have learned that Israel are those who are willing to let God prevail in our lives. So how do we get there. The Lord desires us to seek after Him, to be close to Him. But often times when things are going well we forget how much we need Him, and only seek after Him in times of trial. This scripture teaches us that we will be tried, even as Abraham. Now obviously we aren't all going to be commanded to sacrifice our sons. But Abraham's trial was catered to him. To be something that would be especially trying of his soul. You and I are going to experience trial and hardship in this life. Hard things that are catered to us to be difficult. But God tries us so that he can refine us...

The Lord tells Joseph and Sydney that it was expedient they had come unto "this place." or like Mordecai told Esther "who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this."  What "place" are we in? I love that the Lord teaches us here that one of the main purposes of teaching His word is to subdue the hearts of men! Does His word have that effect on us? When we hear His word, either through the scriptures or prophets and apostles, do they cause us to humble ourselves? They should. According to this scripture that is one of the reasons for them.

In Section 95 the Lord is chastising Joseph for not having started on the temple that he had been commanded to build 6 months earlier. When you read about the blessings in verse 4 that the Lord wanted to give them, it is easy to see why He was so anxious for it to be built! What blessings do you receive from the temple?

Because our Father in Heaven loves us so fiercely He has a deep desire for us to return to His presence and receive all that He has. But in order for us to get there He commands us to repent. In our efforts to become more like Him, we can grow as we ask Him for counsel and correction. It's not necessarily fun, but as we heed His counsel we become more like Him.  

When we build a building to the Lord we dedicate it to His purposes. But the Lord is also building us, and wants us to be dedicated to Him as well. 

In our lives we probably won't have a time when the Lord commands us personally to build a couple of buildings, but He does say here in this section that He wants us to follow His pattern. If we are to do that we have to build His church, build up Zion, build His PEOPLE the same whay He does. By meeting them where they are, raising them up, and carrying them forward.
