Today we dive into a really difficult chapter of the Book of Mormon as we explore the often asked question, "why do bad things happen to good people?"

Today we talk about sanctification and the promise of God's rest.

Today we talk about the character of the Savior which allows for the preparatory redemption.

Today we talk about priesthood and foreordination. What exactly does it mean to be foreordained and how does that play into our agency? And how can we know what God wants us to do?

Here, as Alma is feeling like a failure, an angel of the Lord comes and tells him to rejoice! The Lord wasn't concerned that Alma's time in Ammonihah hadn't yielded immediate or measurable success, he was rejoicing in the fact that Alma had been obedient to what the Lord asked of him. Can you and I get ourselves to believe that the Lord is pleased with our efforts? Even on days when we...

Heavenly Father asks us to do hard things, we all get discouraged, we feel like failures at times. But we can take heart and trust in the Lord, knowing that if He commanded us, then He will find a way.

I love Alma 7, I wish we could spend the week in it! Alma teaches the people of Gideon, who were righteous, and whereas he taught the people of Zarahemla important doctrines, here he teaches the people of Gideon HOLY doctrines because of their righteousness.

We are warned again against the sin of pride!

The Amlicites marked themselves with red on their heads, now, I know they are the bad guys in this story...but I think we can learn a lot about making ourselves distinct and different from the world by how we are.

Alma accuses Nahor of Priestcraft and of setting himself up as a light. As teachers and parents and in our callings we must make an effort not to be like Nahor, we have to always strive to point others to Christ and then get out of the way of His glorious message.

GIDEON!!!! That amazing, rock solid disciple of Jesus Christ shows us what it means to be a defender of truth.
