Raising up new leaders in Christ's Church is an honor. This year Paula Arbuthnot, a student with Eden Theological Seminary, has been doing her field education with our Colonial Church community. This Sunday, Paula is preaching and leading our Easter season worship service. May God bless her developing call to ministry as we welcome her!

The Easter season is a time of “coming out of the tombs.” This past year we've experienced the tombs of death, economic loss, grief, and unrest. There are also tombs of our own making, and we ask ourselves, “what holds us back from claiming our freedom to really LIVE and to dance with joy?” No matter what confines you, our Easter message is one that offers the courage for new starts.

Palm Sunday is here! Most years on this Sunday, we hear the dark story of Jesus' passion and death. We have just spent a year walking in the valley of the shadow of death, so this Sunday we're going to celebrate recovery and how we might get up and walk again in Christian Love. Rev. Kayla Bonewell (Cathedral of Hope and Church of the Open Arms in Oklahoma City) is a prophetic and powerful voice for justice. She brings a word from God from the Prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah saw the end of the last Jewish kingdom but he also foresaw a new beginning. In the end is always a new beginning. There is always hope.

Colonial Church was founded by veterans returning from the most terrible war in human history. This Sunday we will hear from Dorothy Mulford, our church community's last surviving WWII veteran and charter member. It is a message of hope for healing the divisions of our current time as we continue our mission for compassion, justice, and mercy.

What a year. All of us are feeling a sense of loss. It is healthy and right to acknowledge that in spirit and in truth, and on this All Saints Day we will do that together as we remember. As we remember though, we do so with a hope that is greater than any loss. We remember that Light and Love will always be God's final word to us.
