This episode, takes place on ‘de Vesten’.  “Vesten” is the Flemish name for ramparts. It is a 4,9 miles long walk on the old foundations of the city. On your walk or bike ride you will discover some of the original gates that protected the city in the Middle Ages. This fourth episode takes place at "het begijnhof" or beguinage. A beguinage was not a monastery, but a place where women lived together until the 20th century. Today it is the home for the Benedictine sisters and 44 single women. So it is still a place of silence and contemplation.  We advise you to go on a sunny Spring day, when the daffodils bloom.
