Coffee and a Mike

Abdi Abdirahman is an American long-distance runner.   He is a five-time Olympian competing for the United States in the 10,000 meters and the marathon.   Known as the "Black Cactus' he recently finished 3rd in the 2020 US Olympic Trials in Atlanta at age 43 becoming the oldest American runner ever to make the Olympic Team. 

Colin Schultz is a professional runner and is a recent graduate of Liberty University living in Flagstaff, Arizona.   Originally from Las Vegas, Colin made the move to Flagstaff to pursue professional running and has a passion for the sport and the running community.

Sage Watson is a Canadian athlete sponsored by Nike that specializes in the 400 m hurdles. Competing internationally for Canada, she is the reigning Pan American champion in the 400 m hurdles, having also won Pan American medals in 2015 and 2019 as part of Canada's relay team.

Leah Rosenfeld is a professional runner running for Under Armour and Team Run Flagstaff living in Flagstaff, Arizona.   Originally from Connecticut Leah attended   Penn State University and coaches for both The Run Smart Project and Team Run Flagstaff. 

Rachel Schneider is a professional runner and 2020 Olympic hopeful   living in Flagstaff, Arizona.   Originally from Sanford, Maine Rachel attended Georgetown University and was a 9x All-American, Big East Champion, and school record holder.   She now runs for Under Armour and is being coached by Mike Smith. 

Brock Locnikar from Scottsdale, AZ is a senior at Notre Dame Preparatory . He will be playing football this fall at Harvard and recently won the Arizona State Championship in wrestling going undefeated.  Brock has grown up boxing, competing in jiu-jitsu,  mma and his father was the fight doctor for Mike Tyson.

Jack Polerecky is an elite runner training up in Flagstaff, AZ. He is getting ready for the Olympic trials in Atlanta this weekend and is currently coaching for McKirdy Trained. He is a graduate of Loyola Marymount with a degree in biochemistry.

Sara Slattery is a former professional runner and two-time NCAA champion in the indoor 5000 meters in 2003 and 10,000 meters while competing for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2005. She won the 10,000 meters at the Pan American Games in 2007 and is the current head cross country and distance coach at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.  

Jenna Leurquin, the owner of JL Patisserie in Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ.   Born in Belgium she went from playing golf, double majoring in International Business and Finance at Boise State University to completing a 9 month training program at Le Cordon Bleu Paris in both cuisine and pastry.   She then went   on to train among some of the best chefs in Belgium and Paris before moving to Arizona.

Baylee Mires is a professional runner living in Flagstaff, Arizona running for Under Armour and being coached by Shayla Houlihan.   Originally from Spokane, Washington she participated in the 2016 Olympic Trials and holds the school record for the 800 meter at the University of Washington.

Shayla Houlihan is a former professional steeplechaser and has coached at University of Utah, University of California Berkeley in both cross country and track and field. She is currently working for Under Armour in Flagstaff, Arizona coaching a team of professional runners.

I wanted to take a look back on the first podcast I did with a politician.  Then Governor-Elect Steve Sisolak had just been appointed as the Governor of Nevada.  Most people did not know that he was a cornerman for a professional boxer that turned into a Hall of Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach.

Mike Kosoy is a professional freestyle wrestler and member of the Sunkist Kids training for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.   He comes back on the podcast to discuss where he is at with his training, bullying, state of UFC, and some cool things on the horizon for him in 2020.    

Marcus Marinelli is a power lifter, mixed martial artist and owner of Strong Style gym in Independence, Ohio. He is the head coach of UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic and many others. With Stipe Miocic recently named Pro Athlete of the Year at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards this was a good opportunity to go back and hear how his coach got his start.

Aisha Praught Leer a female middle-distance runner, a 2016 Olympian, and a 2020 Olympic hopeful competing for Jamaica.   She comes on the podcast to discuss running for Under Armour, spending time in Arizona training for this 2020 season, and how she is the person to call if you ever have an allergic reaction to a bee sting. 

Charleen Badman, co-owner of FNB Restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona comes back on the podcast to discuss her winning the 2019 James Beard Award Best Chef Southwest, her recent experience at CES in Las Vegas and all the volunteer work she is doing for the Blue Watermelon Project, a Slow Food Phoenix coalition of local chefs and activists focused on improving school lunches. 

Jenn is a Visual Effects Production Supervisor on feature films. She is currently in post production completing work on Dark Phoenix, the latest installment in the X-Men series. This is her fifth super hero film and 24th feature overall. She has been working in VFX for 15 years.  Her recent film "1917" has been nominated for 10 Academy Awards in 2020.
