Coach Michael Shortt rode along with Coach Kris Herron on Coach & Friends . He shared a bucket list road trip that’s been on his mind, and the discussion turned to county courthouses across the state and the origins of the names Clay and Cleburne counties. Coach Justin McCollum, the walking Clay County almanac, joined in to answer the question of how Upchurch Field in Lineville got its name.

Hall of Fame friend Coach Jerry Weems joined Coach Kris Herron to start off a new week on the show. Chance Jones, the Executive Director of the Clay County Economic Development Council, stopped by for a visit. Heath “The Bone” Stroud also checked in with his weekend update.

The Barber, David Nolen, helped push the show toward the weekend as the guys caught up on grandkid news and family on the move. The conversation drifted to old postcards and TV antennas still being used today. They also debated whether there’s an item they would always buy regardless of price, and Dave went on a rant about milk.

Coach Steve Giddens joined the show for the first time in the new year, and it was a “Sheila Sparks” Thursday. The crew went over celebrity birthdays and shared a few philosophical thoughts.

Rusty Taylor, the voice of the Volunteers, was back and joined Coach Kris Herron in the studio. They talked about how Rusty spent his Christmas and New Year’s. The guys also discussed bear wrestling, deer hunting success, and how the shape of Clay County evolved.

Heath Bone dropped by to check out the greasy spot in the road, and they had some fun naming songs with states in the title.

A new year and the crew was off and running. Coach Jerry Weems and Coach Kris Herron were joined by Dr. Chip East to open 2026. The show started the Semiquincentennial recognition and celebration, while also explaining what a mast year for acorns means and why it matters.

The Barber, David Nolen, was on for the last show of 2025. Coach Herron walked everyone through his day of packing away Christmas decorations and how it ended with fried chicken. The guys also shared a few quirky and random things they learned this year about the state of Alabama, courtesy of their friends at AL.com.

He also shared the sense of pride that came with being able to help out on his latest home improvement project. Kelly G. Smith, the librarian at Ashland Elementary School, stopped by to read a Christmas story.
