Clear Tinted Classics

Jake is back from hiatus just in time for one spooky episode this October. And what could be scarier than having not one, but two guests on the show who love a movie that Jake is unsure about. That's right, we've seen many strange things already, but nothing quite like this!

I'm making a movie and not podcasts. Sorry! I'll be back soon.

Happy fourth of... Seventeenth of September. Jake hasn't seen Independence Day and Justin took issue. So they are gonna talk about it. Time's Up. Welcome to Earth.

Nick joins the show for the very first time. Jake talks to him about theatre, film, and eventually, the sometimes forgotten Coen Brothers classic, The Hudsucker Proxy. How does it hold up? And why is Jennifer Jason Leigh the best part?

It's time to finally see dead people... with a brand new guest! Tony joins Jake for the first time to talk about his journey into filmmaking and love of film, and then they dive into M. Night Shyamalan's breakout hit, and one of the most famous twists of all time. How did it treat both of them having never seen it before? Well, you have to listen!

Justin is back on the show and we couldn't have saved a better movie for him. Well, we could have, but we are doing Cherry 2000, a slightly forgotten film about a bland man and a redheaded tracker and their romp through the desert to get a sex robot. Also there's maybe a cult? It's a weird one!

Brandon and Vigo of Doxby Films fame join Jake for the very first time to talk about one of the weirdest film auteurs of all time, Vincent Gallo. There's A LOT to talk about, so get to listening! Go check out Doxby Films on all things, including Youtube where you can find all of their films and content!

Andrew is back and it is time to go back to college. Protests and silliness abounds, as well as a way too old Jeremy Piven, but hey, he's funny. A blast from the 90's past, check it out!

What happens when a disaffected young man obsessed with death and staging his own fake suicides meets an old woman with a zest for life and a habit of stealing people's cars? If you answered THEY HOOK UP, you've probably seen the movie. But Stephanie and Jake haven't, so they watched it for the very first time ever and now they are going to talk about it!

Brittnie returns to the show to offer up this found footage adventure, but is it really a nightmare waiting to happen? Well, in a way, but I guess you'll have to listen to find out!

Jake loves medieval fantasy. Jake loves doomed romance. Jake loves Michelle Pfeiffer. So surely Jake loves this movie? Well... Andrew is back to chat about what works and what doesn't about this film and just have a merry jaunt through the whole thing. So check it out!

This podcast is rad as hell, and we're not gonna take it anymore! And by take it, we mean resist talking about this cultural landmark of a film. Josiah is back, and together he and Jake try to wade through a film that maybe seemed wild at the time, but maybe just seems like reality today. Check it out!

First time guest Tyler, from Beverly Hills Cop Axel F, Placid Park, Death Battle, and much, much more joins Jake for the first time on the podcast to talk about his journey into acting, and then the terrifying Robert De Niro villain turn that is Cape Fear. Check out Tyler's podcast EVR FWD, it's an absolute blast.

Jake is joined by long time friend, first time guest, John. They talk about John's love of film, and strong opinions, and then they dive into this dark Boston crime mystery thriller directed by Clint Eastwood of all people (Jake seriously had no clue this was an Eastwood movie). Check it out!

Jake is joined by first time guest James to take a deep dive into James' journey into filmmaking, his love of film, and what led him to creating his popular Youtube channel. Jake is a fan, so he tries not to geek out too hard. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/@JamesVSCinema https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYiE7Gw26gpr4pXV1LRn4MQ

First time guest Sammy joins the show to talk about an actual classic film! They talk about Sammy's journey into filmmaking writing scripts before he was even ten years old, and then dive into The Third Man. It's hard not to call it an Orson Welles film, because man, but yeah, anyway, check it out!

Michael is back to try and convince Jake that Wes Anderson is worth his time. Does he succeed? Will the scales be tipped by a woman who goes on to found a company called Goop wearing heavy eye makeup? Possibly.

First time guest Pat joins Jake from California to talk about his film career and wild journey into acting and directing. Then they dive headfirst into Sin City with the William H. Macy led film about being the unluckiest man in the world, The Cooler.

Let's get punk. What does punk mean though? Well... a lot of things. Some of which get covered in this small indie film about coming of age as a punk in Salt Lake City (that's what the SLC stands for!). Bron is back on the show to talk through this cult classic, and it's a punk rocking good time.

Jake makes the case for his top 90's films.

This week, it's time to go to Reno, get divorced, and fall in love with a beautiful woman on a ranch.

It's just Jake and the movie this time. How does this high school film that seems to have endured the test of time endure Jake's nostalgia free gaze? Well, that's why you listen, I think.

Jake watched some stuff and he's been busy, so he's gonna talk about it. On this episode: Sinners, Delicious in Dungeon, Frieren, Dimension 20: Titan Takedown, Super Eyepatch Wolf: The Unreality of Pro Wrestling, Eurotrip, The Wire, White Lotus, The Studio, The Rehearsal, and Severance.

What happens when Andrew suggests doing a cult classic Christian romcom satire starring Jena Malone getting pregnant by having sex one time with her gay boyfriend? Jake says, let's do this! It's time to get Saved!

The deep dive into Paul Thomas Anderson continues, and Kurt is back once again to talk to Jake about the man himself. This week, it's a look at perhaps his most ambitious project of all, and blindingly paced three hour epic with roughly fifty central characters. It's a lot!
