We live in a dark world, but Jesus offers light to us if we will follow Him. Listen as Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Mike Chapman, brings both a convicting and encouraging word about Jesus as the Light of the world.

Every person on earth can be separated into one of two groups: those that know the satisfaction that Jesus brings and those who know nothing of it. Are you constantly preoccupied with what you do not have, or have you learned to thank God for what you do have? In this sermon, we are challenged to have a grateful heart no matter the circumstances and reminded that a spirit of thanksgiving should be one of the most distinctive marks of followers of Jesus.

Shame is a neurophysiological event that affects the entire body, and many of us are trapped by it. No matter how much shame is a part of your story, Jesus is offering you another way. Listen and be invited to take off the mask of shame and receive the living water Jesus provides.

We wear masks when we are afraid to show others who we truly are, but the masks we wear are built on false narratives created by the father of lies himself. In week 1 of this teaching series, we take a look at the mask of comparison and learn both what it does and how to combat it.

To wrap up the series, Dr. Bill Effler shows us some valuable lessons we can learn from this encounter between Peter and Jesus and provides a timely and encouraging word for the people of City Church and anyone who may be considering being a part of the community here.

Waiting in a storm is one of the hardest things we will do in this life, so it’s important to remember there is purpose in the storm. This week, Pastor Shannon reminds us that Jesus’ deepest desire for us in the storm is that we would become more like Him.

Without a doubt, you will experience storms in this life. While you can't control your circumstances, you can learn to control how you respond to them. When you see the wind, will you give into FEAR, or will you step out of the boat? Listen this week to learn what it means to have a resilient center in the middle of your storm.

How do we discern the call of God on our lives? In week 2 of this series, Pastor Shannon takes us back to a story in Exodus and provides practical teaching on how to recognize the call of God while encouraging us that when God calls us, He enables us to respond to the call.

In the gospel of Matthew, Peter had a choice. He could choose to stay in the boat where there was safety and comfort or he could step out in faith out onto the water. In this introduction sermon, Pastor Shannon asks the question, “What will you choose: the water or the boat?” Because right on the other side of fear and your comfort zone is deep satisfaction in Christ and growth.

When Jesus washed the disciples feet, He showed us what it looks like to serve, and He has commissioned us to serve others in the same way. As a church family, we accepted the call to serve by sponsoring over 100 children in Uganda. It was a special day as the children who chose us were revealed!

What happens when a child is empowered to speak into your life? World Vision Senior Advocate, Peter Mutabazi, shares his own story of empowerment and invites us to be a part of making a significant impact in Uganda by child sponsorship.
