Cinema Spin: A Movie Podcast with a Random Twist!

We are joined today by our friend Chris.   Chris is well versed in the Fast and Furious franchise and is here to school us on some of the backstory behind F9.   Also on this episode we take a look at the Storytelling disaster that is Jade from 1995.

We watched The Sparks Brothers. A documentary about Sparks, the hardest working, most prolific band you have never heard about.  After that we go way back to 1974 and watch The Omen for the first time.   The show may be a little bit more freeform than normal. It was a very long weekend in these parts!

This week we took a look at the biggest thing in pop culture right now, In The Heights.  A brand new adaptation of the Tony winning Stage musical by Lin Manual Miranda.  Then for our second movie, chosen by the Retro Movie Machine, we go all the way back to 1992 for A River Runs Through It.

Our first movie leading off the show is The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021). It is new this weekend, both in theaters and is available to stream via HBOMAX.  Then chosen at random by our randomizing machine is probably the worst movie we have had on the podcast so far.  Class of 1984 (1982)

Ben and I dig into 1972's Joe Kidd Starring Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall.   For our new movie this week, we review A Quiet Place: Part II (2021) and for the occasion Matt ventured out to the movie theater for the first time since 2019.  Find how how he fared!

Our Friend Ben subs in for the vacationing Jason and we watch and review Zach Snyder's Army of the Dead (2021).   In our second segment the randomizer really did a number on us in picking 1999's The Thirteenth Floor.   Listen at your own risk!

It may be kind of a mess but that did not stop Jason & I from watching and reviewing Things Heard & Seen (2021).   Then we go all the way back to 1981(special thanks to the randomizer) to review the horror, werewolf classic, The Howling.

Yep, the newest incarnation of Mortal Kombat is finally in theaters and also available to stream on HBOMAX.  We give it a look and a review.  In our second segment we go back (thanks to the Randomizer) to 1977 for a review of A Bridge Too Far.  Is this epic war film A MOVIE TOO LONG?  Listen to find out.

First off, sorry for the short delay.  We had some intermittent power outages over the weekend and every time we tried to record, I was all of a sudden sitting in the dark.   We finally got to see and review the acclaimed Nomadland (2020).   Also in this episode we take a rather deep dive into the Classic Film Footloose (1984) and its 2011 remake.

In this episode we review Dick Johnson is Dead which has been one of the awards season favorites in the Documentary Feature category.  Then we go back to 1987 to review Kevin Costner in No Way Out!
