To help parents realize that discipline is good for their kids and we need to be consistent with it.

Parents are commanded to instruct their children in God's commands, making His commands the center of their conversation with their kids (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). The goal of parents' instruction is to give them a framework for understanding and interpreting life experiences so they can develop the right behavior habits.

To show parents how kindness opens children up to instruction and helps them be open to correction.

Parent's would go to the Bible to discover how to parent their children, and rely on God's wisdom for raising them.

God uses pivotal circumstances to grow our faith. Sometimes these circumstances can be positive (new work opportunity, growing family, etc.), but many times God uses trouble and pain to grow our faith and reliance on Him. Pivotal circumstances test our faith, but from that blessing comes (James 1).

Christianity is a personal decision but not private. God had made life to be done in a community of His people. It is in the community that we grow spiritually because God uses the church to refine us in different ways. Two ways are Personal Ministry and Providential Relationships.

This message will focus on hearing/ reading/ doing God's word and prayer.

We are not only saved by grace, but continue to walk in, grow in and live by the grace of God now and forevermore. Grace doesn’t end after we become Christians. This grace is received by faith in the word and promises of God, not by our merits. We respond in gratitude, joy, and hope for the future.

The goal is to distinguish our true guilt before God (apart from Christ) from the guilt and condemnation the world, our hearts, and the enemy heaps upon us (vague, undefined, and unpardonable). God wants us to pray for others because He cares for us. The church prayed for Peter while he was in prison, and God answered their prayer dramatically. Many were gathered in the house of Mary, where Peter went after the Lord released Him from prison. All the while, the word of God increased and multiplied.

When the church has opportunities, we should expect opposition. This was the case for the very first church. But the apostles were bold in their proclamation of the gospel. The first believers courageously declared the gospel despite being jailed, beatings, and the jealousy of the Pharisees. They rejoiced that they were counted worthy of being treated shamefully on behalf of the name of Jesus.

We must return to the basics of living out our faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. In the book of Acts, we see Jesus working through a tiny, ordinary group of followers who, despite much opposition, shared their living hope which sparked a worldwide movement that God wants to continue through us.

Patience means steadfast despite opposition, provocation, difficulty or adversity. Patience allows you to make the most of suffering and it increases your reputation among men. It avoids judgment by God if you don’t grumble. After the suffering, if you follow the Lord through it, He restores your soul.

Teachable: able and willing to be taught. The blessing of being teachable is that they are a lamp for your path, a light that guides you, and the corrections of discipline are the way to “life.” Teachability is the only legitimate shortcut in life. Trust in the Lord: counting on God to keep his word. The person who trusts the Lord and has confidence in Him will flourish in this life.

FEAR: reverential awe (fear God). AWE: an emotion variously combining dread, veneration, and wonder that is inspired by authority or by the sacred or sublime (Merriam-Webster). Fear of the Lord: taking God seriously enough to obey him and stay within the boundaries that He set.

In this sermon we will show how the 5th commandment is to be obeyed. Our aim is to motivate everyone to show honor to their father and mothers and show respect to their elders.

The aim of this sermon is to compare the new orthodoxies (Right Thinking) being jammed down our throats, with God's Word and consider the fruit of each. We will show how God's commandments obeyed in faith produce wonderful things, but false doctrines lead to injustice.
