Love isn't just something you have in your heart. It isn't just some feeling that arises when you see someone (or something) you desire. Love is a verb. It requires action. What actions? Paul, in his letter to the Corinthian church, gives us the most comprehensive definition of love in all of scripture. The interesting thing is that, in doing so, he lists 2 examples of what love is and focuses far more on what love isn't. This week we look at Jesus' sermon to the church of Thyatira - a church that is dealing with a problem that has been so commonplace in the church throughout history - the problem of idolatry. While idolatry may look different today, it still exists. So, what do we do about it?

The church in Pergamum had a problem - they were going against God's commands to not eat food sacrificed to idols. I mean, after all, whats the big deal? It's not like they believed in the idols that the meat was sacrificed to. The problem is that they were sacrificing their holiness for their longings.
