Following at a distance is not an effective way to serve Christ. It is dangerous to warm yourself at the fires of the world.

On the way to where He wants to bring us, Jesus sometimes takes us through a storm. In those moments, our pride often tells us to rely on our own strength. We may then become angry and frightened. But if we rest in Jesus and see what He will do, we will worship Him in awe.

Jesus was apprehended as a rebel, yet it is we who rebel against His will. Like Judas, we can seem close to God, but be far from Him in our hearts. Yet, Jesus calls us friends and went to the cross in our place.

The RI flag is a reminder of Hebrews 6:19: "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul..." Our hope is more than wishful thinking. It is confident expectation in the promise and oath of God. If you know God, you know the true hope.
