It's easy to say that Jesus is your savior, but are you living as if he's your Lord? Jesus calls us to follow him with an urgent task, serving the Kingdom of God on earth. 

Prayer is a gift of God's grace which gives us the opportunity to approach him and grow in a relationship with him. In this message, we look at four categories of prayer: adoration, confession, supplications, and thanksgiving, each of which is integral to a healthy prayer life and knowing God. 

The Bible's longest chapter is dedicated to the Word and Law of God. In this message, we kick off the new decade by looking at 12 things Psalm 119 teaches us about the Word of God. 

In this Old Testament passage, we see a fresh reminder to put God first in our lives. Israel had been freed to rebuild the temple, but 20 years had gone by and they had put their own lives as a bigger priority than honoring the Lord. 

After spending several weeks looking at passages which foretell Jesus as the promised Immanuel, God with us, we come to the story of his birth, when God literally came to be with us. In that, we see the love, grace, and forgiveness of God. 

Through all of the darkness of sin and rebellion for Israel, God points forward to a future divine figure who can be nothing less than God with his people. 

In Isaiah 7, the prophet foretells a time of divine judgment for Israel, Syria, and eventually Judah. He gives the sign of Immanuel, which ultimately points to Christ. In Isaiah 8, another baby is born who is the first fulfillment of the Immanuel prophecy and shows the impending judgment at the doorstep of sinful kingdoms, but also gives a promise of hope to God’s chosen people in Judah.

Ahaz is a corrupt king in Judah. At a time of war and unrest, Ahaz is offered a sign by God and he turns it down. God gives him the sign of Immanuel which will be relevant both in Isaiah's day and at the advent of Christ. 

In this passage, we begin to study the Old Testament background of the Immanuel prophecy in the Gospel of Matthew. People are different and the ways we interact with people should be different. For the Apostle Paul, he shares an important concept of ministry: all things to all people.

In this passage, we see that Jesus speaks with divine authority because he himself is divine. 

The only chapter in the Bible where we see an overlap in the ministries of Jesus and John the Baptist. John's disciples notice that Jesus is drawing bigger crowds and are tempted to be jealous of the Lord's ministry. From John, we learn an important lesson in humility. 

The human condition is that we are fallen and sinful. We love our sin more than we love God, but the good news of the gospel is that we have a good God who so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

We continue to examine a conversation between Jesus and a religious teacher named Nicodemus who has come to find out more about this man. Jesus gives the command to be born again. This Spiritual rebirth is necessary for admittance into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus has authority to command this when it is he who was lifted up on the cross. 

Jesus is approached by an expert in the law named Nicodemus who has seen his signs. He’s intrigued by Jesus. Jesus tells him that a person must be born again in order to see the kingdom of God.

The early ministry of Jesus continues as he cleanses the temple. A sacred place has been corrupted but we see that Jesus is the true temple who brings us into the presence of God. 

Jesus performs his first sign which manifests his glory. It’s an odd introduction to a ministry but it’s an important catalyst to the disciples believing in Jesus. He’s the one who turns water into wine, the Lord of the feast, and the bringer of a greater covenant.

Jesus meets some of his earliest disciples and we see several significant affirmations made about the Lord. He is the Lamb of God, the Christ, the one to whom the scriptures point, and the Son of God and King of Israel.

In this passage, we explore the ministry of John the Baptist, a man who has one purpose: pointing to Jesus.

As this passage echoes one of the greatest sins of the Old Testament, we are reminded of the grace of God throughout the Bible, most notably the grace that we receive through Jesus.

The divinity of Jesus is an essential element of his gospel but his humanity is just as important. Jesus is fully God and fully man. In this passage, we see that the Lord of creation entered into creation.

The opening verses of the Gospel of John make several powerful affirmations about Jesus: he’s eternal, he exists in fellowship with God, he is God, and he made everything.

Introductory sermon to the Gospel of John. Jesus is the Lord of creation and new creation. He’s bringing restoration into the world through the gospel and he brings new life into the lives of those who believe in him.
