Ep. 65 Light of the world - John 8:12 15.11.2020

Darkness. It’s a common fear in children (and adults). It brings the unknown and the unseen. The Bible teaches that the world is in darkness, due to sin. In this passage, Jesus teaches that he is the light of the world.

Ep. 64 Sin no more - John 7:53-8:11 08.11.2020

A woman caught in adultery and a mob has brought her before Jesus and confronts him with a dilemma: law or grace? When we dig into this passage, we discover that it might not be what we think at first glance.

Ep. 62 Responding to Jesus - John 7:35-52 25.10.2020

In this passage, we see several differing opinions about Jesus and who he is. But we also see this play out in the modern world. Jesus is  compelling figure. Some worship him as Lord, others are indifferent, and some are hostile to the gospel. In this passage, we see all of these groups interacting with each other but the solution to the conflict is Jesus himself.

Ep. 61 The thirst Jesus quenches - John 7:37-39 18.10.2020

Jesus invites those who are thirsty to come to him. It’s the perfect metaphor. We all know what it’s like to be thirsty on a hot day. The world is severely dehydrated and needs what only Jesus can offer.

The Day of Atonement was the most holy of days in the Jewish calendar. It was the only time of the year when the High Priest would enter the inner sanctuary of the Tabernacle to atone for the sins of the people. For Christians, this is a passage and a day worth understanding because everything associated with this day points us to Christ. Jesus atones for our sins by being the perfect sacrifice an...

Ep. 54 Cubed - Revelation 21:9-27 30.08.2020

So many things that happen in life are underwhelming and don't live up to the hype. And perhaps the disappointment of the world influence our expectations of heaven. Heaven is not an internal church service, nor is it spending the rest of time on a cloud in a robe, playing the harp. Heaven is a perfect restoration of a new heaven, a new earth, and a new Jerusalem. It is the presence of God.
