Sermon for the Vigil of Easter. Everyone has a price, even God. He sent Jesus to pay the price for every sin you have committed. Your God and Lord has paid the debt you owed to Him. And because the price has been paid, you are now Jesus’ brothers and children of God.

Sermon for Maundy Thursday. The Scripture readings for tonight’s service are Exodus 12:1-13; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32; and John 13:1-15, 34-35. When you come to the Sacrament, you come as royal children of Christ the King and are serving the world. The world benefits from you receiving Holy Communion because in this meal, you proclaim Jesus’ death in the place of sinners (1 Cor. 11:26).

Sermon for Palm Sunday. The Scripture readings are John 12:12-19; Zechariah 9:9-12; Philippians 2:5-11; and Matthew 26:1-27:66. The answer to all sin and despair is in the innocent Blood of Jesus which has been shed for you. Whenever you recognize your guilt and sin, bring it to Christ. Let Him deal with them because He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (Jn. 1:29).

Sermon for Midweek Lent 5. The Scripture readings for tonight’s service are Psalm 50:1-6, 12-15; John 6:47-58; and 1 Corinthians 11:27-34. Scripture does give warnings about receiving the Sacrament in an unworthy manner, but it is done in a way to encourage us to receive it regularly and rightly. “Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the Bread and drink of the Cup” (1 Cor. 11:28).

Sermon for the Fifth Sunday in Lent. The Scripture readings are Genesis 22:1-14; Hebrews 9:11-15; and John 8:42-59. To the one who keeps Jesus’ Word, to anyone who believes the Gospel, in other words you, Christian, Jesus promises that you will never see death. You won’t die.

Sermon for Midweek Lent 4. The Scripture readings for tonight’s service are Psalm 34; John 6:28-35; and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. Even though what you receive in Holy Communion doesn’t look like much – and by itself it isn’t much – but when Jesus attaches His promises to it, it is everything.

Sermon for the Fourth Sunday in Lent. The Scripture readings are Exodus 16:2-21; Acts 2:41-47; and John 6:1-15. When God brings tests and trials your way, remember that He is with you. And because He is with you, it doesn’t matter what you have or don’t have. Ps. 34:10 says, “Those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.”

Sermon for Midweek Lent 3. The Scripture readings for tonight’s service are Psalm 116; Acts 2:42-47; and Luke 22:19-20. When Jesus comes to you in the Lord’s Supper He brings forgiveness, life, and salvation. He says, “Here. Take, eat. Take, drink. This is for the forgiveness of your sins.” Jesus is with you to forgive you so you can taste and see that He is good (Ps. 34:8).

Sermon for the third Sunday in Lent. The Scripture readings are Exodus 8:16-24; Ephesians 5:1-9; and Luke 11:14-28. Jesus is the stronger man who has defeated Satan and all of the demons. And because Christ has won the victory over them, we can easily defeat them too. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Sermon for Midweek Lent 2. The Scripture readings for tonight’s service are Psalm 111; Exodus 12:43-51; and Mark 14:22-25. “As often as you eat this Bread and drink the Cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes” (1 Cor. 11:28) Dear saints, receiving the Lord’s Supper is how you proclaim, preach, and confess Jesus’ death and resurrection to a fallen and darkened world.

Sermon for the second Sunday in Lent. The Scripture readings are Genesis 32:22-32; Romans 5:1-5; and Matthew 15:21-28. God’s mercy is of such a nature that it never falls in crumbs. God’s mercy is directly and precisely delivered to give exactly what is needed in every situation.

Sermon for Midweek Lent 1. The Scripture readings for tonight’s service are Psalm 23; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; and Matthew 26:26-29. God says, “the life is in the blood” (Lev. 17:14). That means in the Lord’s Supper Jesus, the Son of God, gives you His Blood, God’s Blood, and God’s life – a life that that has conquered death and is eternal.

Sermon for the first Sunday in Lent. The Scripture readings are Genesis 3:1-24; Hebrews 4:14-16; and Matthew 4:1-11. The one play in the devil’s playbook is to get you to question God’s Word and start speculating that God is holding out on you. Dear saints, God does not and will not ever deny you anything that is good for you (Ps. 84:11).
