Science is just now confirming what the Bible revealed long ago - Appropriate,  Meaningful touch is a physical and emotional blessing.  From the patriarchs to Jesus to the second most repeated "one another" command in the Epistles we are encouraged to bless one another with the right kind of loving touch. 

We bless others when we help them picture the special future God has for them in this life and in the one to come.

Everyone of us needs to know that we are loved, accepted and valued. These are the ingredients that make up "the Blessing." We are called by God to give the Blessing to others, but in order to do that we need to recieve it ourselves.   

John 21 records the third time Jesus appeared to the Disciples after the Resurrection. Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep and challenged Peter to follow Him even if it meant to an eventual martyrdom. 

Jesus rises from the dead, appears to His disciples, and announces a blessing for those who weren't there to see Him in His resurrected body but yet believe. 

John was an eyewitness to the events that took place on the day Christ died, including being an eyewitness to all that happened when Christ hung on the Cross. It was John who heard Jesus say with His last breath "It is finished." 

Jesus is arrested in the Garden, tried, and then rejected by the crowds. In one sense we are all like Barabbas in that we the guilty have been set free while the innocent Son of God was condemned. 

John records for us this remarkable prayer of Jesus where He prayed that we might be one. In one sense this prayer has already been answered, but in another sense we must be the answer to His prayer today. 

Jesus tells His disciples that they will be put out of the synagogue and potentially killed because they follow Him. He then goes on to tell them why, despite all this, they need not be troubled or worried. His words have significant meaning for the challenges we face today. 

Jesus gave an illustration to His disciples about gardening, pruning and bearing fruit that speaks to the process God uses to grow us and cause us to bear much spiritual fruit. 

As chapter 13 closed the disciples were confused and frightened. Jesus told them, "let not your hearts be troubled" and then went on to give them seven truths for them (and us) to remember whenever we have a troubled heart. 

Having received extravagant love in Chapter twelve, Jesus now models it, gives it and commands it under His New Covenant "love one another as I have loved you." 

Martha worshipped by serving, Lazarus worshipped through fellowship, Mary worshipped though extravagant generosity and Judas said "why this waste." 

Jesus declares that He is the Resurrection and the Life and then proves it by raising Lazarus from the dead. 

Jesus declared Himself to be both the Shepherd and the Gate for His Sheep. 

There is more than one type of blindness! The irony in chapter nine is that by the end of it everyone involved in the story, except Jesus and the man he gave sight to, are the ones who are blind.   

After refusing to condemn a woman caught in adultery Jesus declared that He was the light of the world, that God was His Father, and that He existed before Abraham lived as "I am."

At the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles Jesus proclaimed to all that He was the One who can satisfy our deepest thirst. 

Jesus came from Heaven to be the Bread of Life. When Jesus spoke about our need to "eat his body and drink his blood" the crowds took His words literally and many followed Him no more. This chapter ends with Peter saying "where else can we go."

John Chapter Five tells the story of a miraculous healing beside a pool and the angry reaction to it by some religious leaders who accused Jesus of Sabbath breaking and blasphemy.  

Through the remarkable encounter of Jesus with a woman of Samaria we learn five important truths about our lives today. 

Through this snapshot of Jesus with Nicodemus we learn about spiritual rebirth. Jesus came to save the world and enable us to be Born Again and John 3:16 tells us how we can.
