Hello friends, I began dipping my toe into DJing in the mid 90s. Dissatisfied with the endless loop of the 7-10 songs on pop radio cracking out of the speakers in the salon I was working, I decided to try and bring my own music collection to the shop. I was an avid (possibly obsessive) collector of lounge, electronic, ambient and dance type music. Im embarrassed to say what I must have spent in those days at Oak Lawn Records, Tower, and Virgin - may they all rest in peace - but it also began time to get some equipment. I purchased some equipment, albeit simple rudimentary gear at my local guit...

What a lovely night1 Started out nice and relaxed throwing in a little light afro beat, amapiano and traditional african music- later on darker vibes, drums, tribal tech. This was sort of my crown jewel of an era . The turn of the millennium This was peak underground house for me. The driving progressive - very different though no better or worse than today's progressive scene but I sure do have fond recollections of these tunes and clubs from this time in house music. I hope you can be taken back as well!

I squeezed this mix in during the busy holiday period as I wanted a new mix that was more personal and cerebral for my upcoming biannual road trip to the Taos Valley. There are many unusual tracks on here with lots of challenging transitions with the final hour squarely moved into progressive house - that's usually my go-to for long road trips.
